chapter 13 Galaxypaw

"Dead!" Cherrycall said and her eyes widened with shock

"I can't be the deputy anymore first my friend and now my mother I need to spend time with my father I'm retiring from the post of deputy" Cherrycall said

"As you wish" Heavystar replied

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here for a clan meeting" Heavystar called

"Cherrycall, is it your wish to give up the name of a warrior and go to join the elders?" Heavystar asked

"It is" Cherrycall answered

"Your clan honors and all the service you have given to us. I call upon my Starclan to give you many moon's of rest" Heavystar said

"I say these words before starclan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of Nightclan is Scarletrose" Heavystar said

"Scarletrose Scarletrose Scarletrose" the clan cheerd

"Oh and one more thing Snowpaw needs a new mentor and it well be Mistybreeze and Watertuft well train Ivypaw well I'm healing" Heavystar said

And Frostheart and Cherrycall dragged Deerflower to the middle of camp

And the clan gathered around her to sit vigil for her

We are going to be exhausted by nighttime Galaxypaw thought

They sat together throughout the long day

And when night came

Cherrycall and the other elders brought Deerflower out of camp but they had several warriors with them

She walked into the apprentices den and flopped into her nest

She woke up early next morning to find Scarletrose organizing patrols

"Oh and Frozenleaf and Galaxypaw well go on the dusk patrol" Scarletrose said

It was obvious that Scarletrose was overwhelmed with her new duties

"Come on Galaxypaw let's go out hunting" Frozenleaf said

"Is Heavystar still in Hazelleaf's den" Galaxypaw asked

"Yes" Scarletrose answered

He wasn't at the vigil because he was getting his wound healed

And they walked out of camp

There are so few apprentices in each clan Galaxypaw thought

And they started to hunt

She was sneaking up on a bird and once she was close enough she jumped and gave it a quick killing bite

"Thank out starclan for this prey" Galaxypaw said in a whisper

"Nice catch" Frozenleaf said

Why do the clans have to go through so much death Galaxypaw wondered

She could remember often seeing her mother looking off somewhere missing her mother because cats told her why she would seem so sad

And they hunted for a while longer

"Okay I think this is enough prey" Frozenleaf said

And they gathered up all there prey and returned to camp

And they dropped there prey on the fresh-kill pile

Driftfoot is probably going to come to the pile soon to see if there is any new prey for him to eat Galaxypaw thought

And she walked over to her siblings Snowpaw and Nightpaw

She remembered when Sunpaw warned Ivypaw of Watertuft's training ways and the surprised look on her face

"Are you excited for when we well become warriors" Galaxypaw asked

"Yes we are but we only became apprentices last moon" Nightpaw replied
