"This place. It's not what we thought it was. It's not a prison."
Alex explained.

"It's a test."
Thomas finished.

"It all started when we were kids. They would give us these challenges. They were experimenting on us."
Alex continued.

"Then people started disappearing."
Thomas said after.

"Every month. One after another. Like clockwork. Starting with Alex."
He finished as he looked at his sister.

"They were sending them up into the maze.'
Newt realized.

"Yeah. but not all of us."
Thomas said.

"Guys. We're one of them."
Alex said.

"Me, Thomas, and Teresa."
She finished. She looked at Gally expecting to see hate in his eyes, but was shocked to see empathy in them. He was sorry for her.

"Then why would they send you up here then?"
Gally asked as he grabbed Alex's hands.

"It doesn't matter."
She replied.

"She's right."
Newt spoke up.

"It doesn't matter. Any of it. Because if they sent you up here, that means you resisted, you tried to stop them. And that's what matters. And the people we were before the maze. They're gone. The creators took care of that. What matters is who we are now. I mean you two went into the maze, multiple times, to save someone. And you found a way out too."

"Yeah but if we hadn't, Alby would still be alive right now."
Alex spoke as a tear rolled down her cheek.

"Maybe. But I know that if he were here today, he would say the exact same thing. Pick your asses up and finish what you started. Because if we do nothing..."
Newt spoke.

"Alby died for nothing."
Alex finished.

"Okay. okay but we gotta get through Noah first."
Thomas said.

~ the glade ~

~ third person POV ~

Noah was crossing out people's names off the wall. He finished Alby's when four gladers dragged out Alex, Thomas, Gally and Teresa.

Once they got to the opening of the maze they dropped Alex and Thomas's 'unconscious' bodies on the ground. Gally went to lunge at them when a knife was paced at his throat. He stopped and let the glader holding him tie him to a pole. Along with Teresa.

"Noah..... This doesn't feel right. What if Thomas can lead us home."
Jeff says to him.

"We are home. I don't want to cross any more names off that wall."
Noah says.

"You really think banishing us is going to solve anything?"
Teresa asked.

"No. Because this isn't banishing. It's an offering."
Noah says to her.

"What. what are you doing?'
Gally asked as more gladers tied him to the pole.

"You really think I was going to let them go back into the maze after what they've done? Look at what they've done. Look at the glade. This is the only way. And when the grievers get what they want, everything will go back to normal."

"Are you kidding me? You're crazy. If you stay here the grievers will keep coming until everyone is dead."
Teresa tried to reason with him.

"Shut up! Tie them up."
Noah said

"I said tie them up!"
He yelled when no one moved to do so.

When the glader's went to grab them, Thomas elbowed a guy in the ribs and Alex punched the other. Newt cut Gally and Teresa from their poles, while Fry, Winston, and Minho joined them. Chuck ran over with some of their supplies he gathered.

"You don't have to come with us. But we are leaving. And anyone else who wants to come, this is your last chance."
Alex said.

"Don't listen to her, she's just trying to scare you."
Noah ordered.

"They should be scared. Hell, I'm scared. But I'd rather risk my life out there, then spend the rest of it here."
Alex said.

"We don't belong here. This place isn't our home. We were put here. We were trapped here. At least out there we have a choice. We can make it out of here."
Thomas said.

About ten other boys joined them.

"Fine. If you want to die out there, be my guest."
Noah said and walked away. The rest of the gladers who are staying behind followed after him

"Alright everybody let's go."
Alex said.
