Chapter 52

"Okay, but why?"

"I don't know, I felt like it."

I let out a sigh, when dad and Allesandro walked in.

Now all my brothers were eating like pigs around me, while dad was making his precious coffee.

Dad came closer too me and gave me a hug, giving me a kiss on the head.

"Good morning principessa, I love you"

"Morning, I love you too dad" I said hugging him back.

When we stopped hugging, I ate my last piece of fruit and than gulped down my medication.

The others looked at each other, communicating with their eyes before saying,

"Happy Birthday!!!"

"What?"

"It's your birthday today Val."

"Really", I didn't know it was my birthday, I looked at the date on my phone, December 18...oh.

"Oh I guess it is,..well thank you guys." I gave them a smile.

"You forgot?" Xander asked.

"Yeah, I've never really done anything on my birthday, I don't celebrate it." Well I did get some birthday gifts from them, extra playroom sessions and beatings. My smile faded thinking about it.

I still remember my last birthday, at the end to top it of them stabbed me with a knife multiple times, I traced some of the scars, on my stomach and thighs.

"You okay honey?" Dad snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Mh...oh yeah no I'm good, I just remembered some stuff I didn't want to." I said honestly.

"Oh honey. C'me here" I relaxed in dad's embrace.

"It's fine, I'm here now. I'm okay now."

There was some tension and sadness that returned to the room, but Xavier quickly made that disappear.

"So Val, what do you want to do for your birthday?"

"Nothing, be with you guys" I smiled.

"Nothing?..."

"Nope"

"You don't want to go to the mall, or amusement park or anything?"

"No, be with you guys and the others is the best."

"Kind of expected that to be honest" Xavier said.

Honestly I didn't really wan to go somewhere today, I just wanted to be with my family. Now that I finally got them back, I just want to be with them.

There was a knock on the door, so I jumped of the counter and opened it, well that's something I never do, but I needed to get out of that room that was still filled with some tension.

Opening the door I was met with the rest of the family, "Happy birthday too you, happy birthday too you, happy birthday dear Valentina , happy birthday too you!" Was sang from everyone, even my brothers and dad who came after me from the kitchen.

After the song, Matteo jumped forward and ran up too me.

He gave me a hug so I bend down and gave him one too, "Thank you guys" I smiled hugging Matteo.

I got some smiles in return, while the rest of the family came inside.

"I got you sowmthing" Matteo said when we released the hug.

He handed me a drawing where the whole family was drawn.

"Oh Matteo, that's so pretty. I'm going to hang it in my room okay, I promise. That's the best birthday gift I ever got." I smiled, his smile became even bigger.

Matteo ran to his mom aka aunt Valencia, "mom, did you hwear, Val loves my drawing. It's the best thwing she has ever gotten for her bwithday." He smiled proudly.

"That's amazing Teo, I told you that she would love it" She smiled picking Matteo up.

I gave everyone hugs and kisses greeting them all.

It has been a few hours and I got a lot of gifts. I got clothes, bags, jewellery, books,...

I got a lot, too much if you ask me.

Matteo's drawing reminded me that I haven't drawn anything in a long time.

Maybe I should start drawing again, but my drawings were always reflecting my mind and I don't know if it maybe will make things worse or maybe even better because I'm letting it all out.

I also got surprised with earrings, I didn't have my ears pricked so I just sat there confused.

Until they told me that there would come a woman who did piercings and tattoos for the family over to give me earrings.

Turns out they remembered the conversation in the car, when we were on our way to the first family dinner.

So now I have earrings, they hurt a little but I didn't mind the pain, but I was a bit scared so I still held dad's hand during it.

Matteo was now going to sleep in one of the guest rooms after eating too much cake.

It was pretty funny, I've had a good day. The best birthday I've ever had, no beatings, no play room nothing.

During the day Maxim and Oliver also came, just like Atlas and his family.

Atlas and his family left a few minutes ago, because Atlas' sister was really tired and stuff. Turns out that the sister's name is Aurora.

We were all just talking about random stuff, when suddenly dad stood up being really nervous.

"Val we all need to talk and tell you something." He declared.

We need to talk, those are never good words.

Oh no

Are they sending me away?

My heart rate started speeding up, "It's nothing bad, we just need to tell you something."

"Okay?" I said unsure.

My family sat around me on the couches and on the floor.

Dad looked at the others who were all nodding their heads.

"Now that you are 14 that means that you will get to know the family secret. Everyone gets to hear it at 14, so now that you are we need to tell you. Euhm..I want you to know that whatever I'm going to say doesn't change anything. You're still safe, we still love you and we won't be acting any different to you than we are now. You don't need to be scared or anything.." He rambled on.

What is happening- "We're in the mafia" He finally spit out after a few minutes.
