how I started to stan

Idk why I was randomly thinking about how I began to stan Got7 and idk if i told anyone how it started, so I got bored and decided to write about it because I remember it so clearly.

I started off as a BTS stan in like late 2016, around whenever Blood Sweat and Tears came out because it was popular and my close friend at the time (major bts stan) wouldn't stop talking about it. At first i was like "ugh they're kinda annoying with their kpop obsession", but my friend would encourage me to watch a ton of videos and stuff and enthuse about them all the time.

So I started watching some BTS videos and I started to get into them, and I made my friends like, cute little crack meme videos and stuff with my limited knowledge. Then, holiday break came along and,,, well I had a lot more time to binge BTS content shdhshd

So I slowly began to stan more and I genuinely like BTS as people and artists. But at the time I had watched SO much BTS content (it's like early 2017 at this point, so it was like 3 straight months of BTS literally every single day) so I wanted to refresh myself with something else so I wouldn't be up at 3 am watching more and more BTS hshdhs.

So, I randomly found a video that was like "male idols doing girl group dances" and I was like hmm that sounds cute let me watch.

So as I'm watching this video, I'm laughing and stuff cus it's cute or whatever, but then this one particular guy catches my eye. I was like "wayment-- who that?👀" SO I think I re-winded and watched him again and I was like "he's kinda cuteeeee omg 🥴" and I continued on with the video until it finished. Now pause for a sec and try to guess which boy caught my attention 💀.

When I finished the video I was like "okay... what do I do now?" cus I wanted to watch more kpop stuff but I DIDNT want it to be BTS, but I also didn't know any other groups at the time. I think I knew EXO because I liked the song Monster and I think they had just made a comeback with that song around the same time as BTS, but that was it. 

So I was like trying to decide between maybe learning more about EXO or just reverting back to my BTS phase. So I sat there thinking about it, and then I was like "Well I just sat here and watched a whole video with a ton of different boy groups, maybe I should just look one of them up and see if i can get into them..." So I guess I liked that idea and decided to just go with the first group that came to mind.

I literally remember thinking "uhhh... damn I barely remember any of the names, um... wasn't one like, Got7 or something??? Fuck it we'll see i guess."

And that was a huge mistake that now 3ish or 4ish(???) years later I am still dealing with 🙃 *sigh*

So,, I type got7 into youtube and I don't remember what my very first reaction was, I just remember trying to figure out what I should watch. At the time got7 had just comeback with hard carry, so I could've watched that MV, but no, I decided to watch weekly idol because it cracked me up when BTS was on it, and a lot of the girl group dances I saw in the video happened on the show, so it was like a no brainer to me. If I wanted to watch a group and get familiar with them I should watch them in a somewhat casual setting because that's what appealed to me I guess idk.

SO! Luckily got7 had JUST been on weekly idol because, again, hard carry comeback season. (but by "just" I probably mean like a month or two before I started watching them because by then everything was out and I think promotion was over?? I don't know for sure but I think I had started stanning just in time for Never Ever) and I can show yall exactly which one I watched cus I remember my initial reaction to some of the members 💀

So all these dudes are on my screen and y'know when you see new people you gotta get that initial vibe check. So I think I skimmed through the beginning of the video because I didn't care about introductions or whatever I just wanted to be thrown right into it-- and maybe that was a mistake too 💀 because being thrown right into got7 is chatoic-

But anyway, Jackson scared me 💀 a lot of people seem to get a scary first impression from Jaebeom most out of everyone, but honestly, Jaebeom didn't really exist to me because I was so caught off guard by this really loud, buff-looking blondie 💀

Like he looked like the type that could beat someone up and I was like okay maybe that one I should stay away from for now--

but now I know he's actually a huge softie and i want to sqwuish him 🥺

I learned that after watching that video of him being surprised with his parents😭😭😭 I literally cannot watch that video again my heart😭

But besides him, someone else flashed on the screen and caught my attention like, my jaw literally dropped. It was the guy I saw earlier in the girl group dance video-- did yall guess it right? 

It was BamBam 💀

I was so shocked that I happened to pick the group that the really cute guy who had caught my attention was a part of because I swear I didn't accidentally memorize the group name??? Maybe I associated him with the group name subconsciously, but either way I was so happy to see BamBam pop up on my screen like, I literally squealed "OMG THE CUTE GIRL GROUP DANCE DUDE!" 😭

And I kept hearing the name "BamBam" being thrown around, so now I was totally encapsulated with this dude and I was like "if the cute guy's name is BamBam that just makes him 10 times cuter and I just might die" LIKE-- CUS HE WAS SO CUTE AND TO CALL SUCH A CUTE PERSON A CUTE NAME PLS 😭😭😭😭

This was before I knew Bam's personality okay ✋-- and when I did get to learn more about him I fell for him harder- 🌚 but that's beside the pOiNt

So since I recognized Bam I stopped skimming through the video and I started to actually watch it BECAUSE HIS VOICE WAS SO CUTE TOO UGH-- anyway, I started to notice another person and idk why I began to be drawn to him but I just was, like I was excited about bambam but I kept finding myself wondering about this other dude who was also pretty cute- Mark

Idk what it was about Mark that made me feel like something was "different" about him, but I could just tell?? So I spent a while staring at him and I started really wondering who he was, so I finally just decided to pause everything and look up got7 so I can figure out who this man is. For some reason it all made sense when I found out he was American idk like I could just sense it off his vibe 💀

Soo kinda funny I noticed the foreigners first, they just caught my attention the most out of everyone. 

Then next was Jinyoung who I called "actor guy" for a while because I didn't know his name (and mans had just changed his stage name from junior to jinyoung so as soon as I THOUGHT I knew his name, I had to learn his real one 😐) and the first time I really started to notice Jinyoung was Dream Knights 💀 so that's where me calling him "actor guy" came from because at some point in the show he was crying and I was like "woah 😳 he's pretty good." 

Now where my obsession with that man and his ass came from idk, but listen we dont talk about that- ✋

Jaebeom and Youngjae always confused me because I didn't know who was who, and I honestly thought they looked alike like they could be brothers 💀 Now they don't really look alike to me but back then I didn't know who anyone was okay cut me slack. Youngjae was really loud and laughed a lot so he was just "loud guy" to me, but his vocals????? 😳😳😳 I quickly learned who Choi Youngjae was after hearing them 🥴

And Yugyeom was just.. there 😊❤️🌼

BUT NOW I KNOW AND LOVE ALL OF THEM EQUALLY THEY'RE MY BABIES 😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️

And that was kinda my first introduction/impression of got7 annnnnd i just wanted to recount it hehe oke bye
