You didn't notice that you had already started holding the bottom of your face as you felt it warm up each second. It wasn't until some tapped your shoulder.
"Hey, (Y/n). Are you done eating breakfast?"
It was Marco and he was just patiently waiting behind you.
"Marco, what's up my dude?" you stretched your hand out and waited for him to dap you up. Marco was only confused by your hand being out so suddenly. It didn't take long until you remembered that you never taught anyone here about cool handshakes. "Uh, forget that. I'll show you later."
The tall teen simply pursed his lips before mumbling an okay. "Well, if your done eating we can head to the stables and prepare the horses for the commanders."
"Wait-They're leaving so soon? They didn't even get to see us in training?" your voice exclaimed with a hint of disappointment.
"Wasn't it mainly for like the third years?" asked Reiner.
"Oh, then I didn't pay attention."
"You never do," you simply frowned at Reiner's remark before accepting it knowing damn well you never pay attention. You did finger guns his way whilst nodding your head.
Pushing yourself out of your seat and standing next to Marco you said, "You got me there bestie, I never know what's happening." You clapped your hands and turned to Marco and signaled your hands towards the exit, "well let's go and get dem horses to old town road until we can't ride no more." And with that, you walked away leaving those poor souls who call you their friend questioning everything.
Like always.
"We aren't even riding the horses, the commanders are," Marco stated as he followed closely behind you.
"It's an expression, Marco," the taller teen caught to you and gave a confused expression. "It's an expression to me."
It didn't take long for the both of you to arrive at the stables with all the horses. Immediately you started working on the scout's horses whilst Marco worked on the Military police horses. Garrison horses would be prepared the last, fat rip to those.
"So, how has your morning been so far, Marco?" you asked as you began brushing the white horse that belonged to Erwing, a way to calm him down before putting the saddle on him. Poor fella probably has PTSD from maybe almost getting stepped on by titans.
You could hear the freckled teen shuffle behind you and carry a few items to prepare the horses. "Well the morning has barely started, but I'd say so far it's been great." You only hummed in response, there wasn't much to talk about so you spent the rest of the time in silence. Of course, there was the occasionally, 'can you pass me that' or 'where is the' and so on.
It wasn't until you were almost done with the garrison's horses that Marco spoke up, "You said that the commander of the survey corps is your dad, right?" he paused for a few seconds, "not to offend you or anything, but I don't really see the similarities."
You finished up with the horse in front of you before turning to your friend, "non taken. I see where you are coming from. He's not my biological father, so that explains a lot." You sat on a hay bale and waited for him to finish and sit next to you.
"That's right, you mentioned that after the fall of well, you know."
"Das right, after the wall fell I moved underground with a gang. Almost a year later we were all arrested and then recruited as scouts. Well, my siblings were." You clapped your hands awkwardly at the bitter memory, "but yeah Commander Smith is like my dad."
The freckled boy awkwardly played with his hands, there was hesitation.
"If you wanna say something you can say it, yknow? I'm not gonna get mad or anything."
