Y/n and Remus had been dating since fourth year, both madly in love with the other. Y/n loved Remus with everything she had, the exact same since fourth year but as it went further, one of them began to slowly fall out of love.

Remus just couldn't love her as much as she did him anymore. And that wasn't fair to either of them. He made a decision.

We broke up a month ago

"I think.. we should," he sighed,"See other people.."

Y/n stared up at Remus, keeping the smile on her face but her eyes slowly widened, pupils shrinking and dulling.

"W--what?" She choked out.

Remus winced, halting his movements at rubbing his neck. He hated it when she did that. Her voice would always crack when she tried to keep her tears at bay.

"I just, I-"

"D-did I do something wrong?" She whispered.

She took a step forward, chest tightening as she kept down a sob.

"Please, tell me! I can fix it! I--i-," she hiccuped, staring up at him.

"No," he cut her off, about to rest his hands on her shoulders when he recoiled, letting his hands rest at his sides, clenching his pants instead.

"I can't love you the way I used to, Y/n. I can't love you the way you love me and," he looked at her,"I don't think it'd be fair to be dishonest with you or myself. We both knew this for a while," he whispered as he looked off to the side.

Y/n gulped down a sob, screwing her eyes shut.

Remus was right. She had noticed it over the past few months. He had fallen out of love with her.

She tried to deny it, keeping up the same image of the loving and doting girlfriend she was, but now she had to face the music.

"O--ok," she hiccuped.

He froze, slowly turning to face her and he felt his back break into a cold sweat at the smile that she forced on her lips, tears pricking her eyes.

She spun on her heel, walking away from him with a hunched figure, hands over her mouth as tears slid down her face.

Y/n stared at Remus across the library; it's been a month since the two broke up and Remus hadn't gotten her alone again. He wanted to talk to her, check if she was okay but he felt like he didn't have that privilege anymore.

The h/c haired girl sighed, shutting her book and grabbed her bag.

She had to walk past Remus' table to get to the door and she sucked in a breathe, keeping her head down as she took fast strides to the door when his voice cut through, halting her steps until she was a few steps away from his desk that was now behind her.
