Crickets chirp outside my window while I stare at my ceiling, pondering whether or not I should go to sleep.

The rest of the day that isn't night is taken up by school, my family, and other responsibilities. This time is precious, but I'm tired.

My legs lift and sling over the bed while I'm in the process of grabbing my phone from my bedside table. I'm met with zero notifications, unsurprisingly. Unlocking it and opening my messages, I open the conversation with Bokuto.

Me

hey, are you still awake?
12:23 AM

The screen stays the same for the next five seconds, then thirty, then sixty.

Sighing, I set down my phone and look at the window nearby my bed. He's definitely not awake.

Right as I'm about to go back to sleep, my phone vibrates. I sit up and snatch my phone.

Bo

Yup, I'm awake!!
12:25 AM

I sigh in relief. Thank gosh.

Bo

Something wrong?
12:25 AM

Should I even be bothering him with this? I hope I didn't wake him up, but now I guess if I said nevermind it would be weird.

Me

i can't sleep.
12:26 AM

Bo

Me neither. Wanna facetime?
12:26 AM

I jolt partially and jump up, letting go of my phone and brushing out my hair with my hands and rubbing my eyes so I wouldn't look like a zombie.

Afterward, I grab the phone once more and text back.

Me

Sure.
12:27 AM

I turn on my bedside lamp right as the FaceTime is initiated. Accepting it, I see Bokuto on the screen upside down.

A small chuckle airs from my throat at his goofiness.

"Hey hey!"

"Hey hey." I repeat after him, grinning at the screen. His hair is drooping a bit, so any normal person who's never seen him like this wouldn't be able to recognize him as the ace of Fukurodani.

"How was your day?"

"It was fine, I got to submit that letter of apology to the principal from the incident the other day."

"Wait, when I knocked off his toupee? That was an accident!"

I giggle. "Anyway, how was your day?"

"It was great!"

The conversation continues on, carrying naturally and fluidly as if we've known each other for years rather than months.

While we chat about whatever comes to mind, such as how the plural of juice should be jeece or how vending machines kill more people a year than sharks, my eyelids start to get heavy and they start to fall, my sleepiness overwhelming my senses.

Before I know it, I've fallen asleep.

"(Y/N)?"

Bokuto realizes that his friend has fallen asleep, so he just grins. "Good night."
