29. first kiss dance

when nini walked into her apartment that night, she had the biggest smile on her face and had a giddy expression, disappointed that erica was asleep on the couch but she had quickly gone into her room and closed her door, leaning back against the white surface before she jumped up and down multiple times with a hushed squeal

"i had my first kiss!" she breathed, repeating the phrase as she twirled around her room contently

she soon collapsed back onto her bed and giggled to herself with pride, staring up at the ceiling before turning over onto her stomach to look over and see a message from ricky

'goodnight nini❤️'

her smile grew as she held the phone to her chest and closed her eyes, soon falling asleep with nothing but tonight in her dreams.

the next morning started with nini waking up before her alarm, full of energy and excitement as she got herself ready for a day at school.

she sung quietly as she brushed her hair back, tying it up in a half-up half-down with a black hair tie before taking a blue ribbon and tying it up around it into a small bow, letting the long strands of the ribbon fall over her long brown hair while a few loose strands danced down the sides of her face.

taking her bag, she skipped out of her room and saw erica preparing breakfast before raising her eyebrows at the sight of the cheerful brunette girl

"well you're up bright and early on a thursday."

nini giggled as she adjusted her jean jacket and pushed her hair over her shoulder, resting her bag on the chair beside her as she plopped down on one herself

"i had the best sleep." she said with a sigh "isn't it a beautiful morning today?"

erica hummed "what did you do?"

nini rolled her eyes playfully as erica placed a plate of eggs and toast in front of her "you always assume i do something terrible when i'm in a good mood."

"that's because i've known you your entire life, and the last time you were this happy was when you wrapped the entire drawing room with bubble wrap when you were fifteen." erica told her, waving the spatula around to gesture at nini's face

nini took a sip of her juice and nodded "that was a great day...if you don't count my mother's screeching lecture..." she laughed

erica chuckled, sitting in front of her niece "so, are you going to tell me what you did this time?" she asked "i better not find my bedroom filled with bubble wrap-"

nini shook her head with a smile "if i tell you...you have to promise me you won't ask questions or do that dance you always do when you're excited."

"hey, don't diss my chicken dance." erica said, pointing at her with a playful warning stare

the brunette giggled before taking a deep breath and bringing her hand up to her necklace "well...i thought over millions of times about what you told me...you know, when i came back from the hiking trip and asked you that...question."

erica raised her eyebrows "i'm intrigued, go on."

"so...the entire reason that i asked and was feeling a little off was because of ricky..."

erica gasped "you like him! oh finally," she sighed "i was going a little crazy with the entire 'he's so lovely but he's just my friend-"

"aunt erica!" nini exclaimed as her cheeks flushed pink, looking down in embarrassment while the woman laughed

"alright, alright, continue."

nini sighed with a small smile "okay...i had thought about what you said with the whole 'take a leap' saying...and i may or may not have taken that leap and kissed ricky last night."

"WHAT?!"

nini jumped in fright before erica laughed happily, clapping her hands

"don't do that!" nini exclaimed breathlessly as she brought a hand to her chest to calm her heart rate down

"i'm terribly sorry nini, but i have to dance for this." erica smirked, standing up slowly

"no-no, aunt erica!" nini exclaimed biting back a laugh "stop!"

the woman ignored her as she stood up and started dancing frantically

"you had your first kiss!" she exclaimed

nini groaned in embarrassment but her smile was wide as she brought her hands up to her eyes to cover them

"i'm going to be late for school!" she exclaimed as she saw erica continue to dance

nini quickly stood up from her chair, taking her bag as she looked at aunt erica once more before shaking her head with a small smile and making her way to the door

"don't forget to kiss ricky hello!"

"oh my gosh!" nini exclaimed, hurrying out the door as erica laughed whole-heartedly
