Chapter 8 - Prison

"Oh, come on! Isn't this fun?"

"Not really..."

Mono yawned as he walked down the long hallway with the other two.

"Well... what else do you wanna talk about?"

"How about... favorite TV show? Or favorite movie?"

Six proposed a topic, and Seven nodded.

"Yeah, that works. Mine is that one where a cat chases a mouse around, forgot what it was called... what about you, Money?"

"Well, the only thing I watched when I was little was the news."

"Oh."

Six shrugged.

"I used to watch this movie when I was living on the streets, I think it was in black and white. There was this guy who owned a motel, and he would go around killing people with a kitchen knife."

"Uh..."

Seven was a little creeped out by her answer.

"On second thought, I probably shouldn't have been watching that at such a young age."

"Yeah... that sounds really disturbing."

The conversation went silent before Mono spoke up.

"I'd like to see that movie."

The two turned around and looked at him with a weird look.

"What? It sounds interesting."

"Yeah, if you're a freak! That movie sounds messed up!"

"Yeah, that's the point. It's a horror movie, probably."

Six used another word that Mono had not heard of before.

"A what movie?"

"Horror, it basically means scary."

"Oh, I see."

They made their way around another corner, reaching a very ominous room.

"Are these prison cells?"

Mono examined their surroundings in both confusion and horror as barred-up rooms were seen all along the wall, but they appeared to be void of any life, despite the fact that there was light being emitted into every jail cell.

"I can fit right through this, look..."

Seven squeezed right through the bars with ease.

"So these are meant for people bigger than us?"

"No, these rooms are too small... they could've designed them so children could escape through them easier, I think..."

"Why in the world would they do that?"

"Maybe there's a trap ahead."

Mono shrugged, peeking around the corner of the room ahead.

"I don't see anything, just a wide-open spot with a bunch of-"

He jumped as a giant mechanical eye in the back of the room he was peeking into suddenly opened, a bright light protruding from its iris. It immediately shifted its attention onto Mono as he ducked back around the corner in fright.

"What is it, Mono?"

Seven called out as Mono pressed a finger up to his lips, telling them to be quiet. The mechanical eye shifted its gaze away from the doorway, returning to the other side of the room.

"Is it another one of those eyes?"

Six whispered to Mono, which he nodded in response.

"Oh no..."
