- Willow's POV -
"Wait so you actually went up to the police officer and explained to him why he was doing his job wrong?!" I say laughing while I stuffed my mouth with French fries
"Hey I was fuckin drunk okay?" Avery defends with a laugh. I had somehow managed to break down some of her walls in the short time we'd spent together at McDonald's with Leo.
"You started reciting the code of criminal justice to a law enforcement officer. Obviously you weren't that drunk" I tell her
"Just wait till you start school. You'll be saying that shit in your dreams" Avery comments
I pick up my phone to check the time and see a few notifications from Lando that make me smile.

are u home yet?
have fun with your new friends okay?
u deserve it just text me when ur back

I'll be home in a bit

"Boyfriend?" Avery asks
"No um...it's complicated" I say
"Do not elaborate, I don't wanna know" she says and I roll my eyes with a laugh
"Don't think all the time in the world would be enough to cover the whole story anyways"
"Okay now I'm interested. Start from the very beginning"
"Please don't" Avery pipes in
"I'll save it for another day" I tell Leo and he pours
"Alrighty" he says and finishes the last bite of his food.
I check the time.
"Oh wow, it's really late. I need to get home"
"Come on, I'll give you a ride" Leo offers and I accept.
We get into his car and he starts driving after I've given him the address.
"Could you drive any slower?" I whine
"Are you joking? I'm at 90 kilometres per hour right now" he says in disbelief
"Sorry, force of habit. That's what happens when you're surrounded by race car drivers your whole life" I say and instantly regret it
"Shit" I whisper
"I'm sorry did you just say surrounded by race car drivers?!" Avery questions, her eyes wide
Well there's no going back now.
"Yea...so about that...um my cousin and my ex are F1 drivers" I say and they don't react
