"And..... There's the heartbeat." The nurse beamed as she rubbed the machine over my stomach. I couldnt help but smile.

I'd be lying if I told you I heard anything she said after that. I was just so happy to finally see and hear my child.

"See you in a couple weeks Ms. King."

I got home and was on cloud 9. Kia greeted me excitedly. She ran up to me and rubbed my belly.

"How's my little titty baby?" She cooed at my stomach.

"He's good and well and healthy. All good things."

She scrunched up her face and looked at me. "He?"

I busted out laughing, "Yes ma'am, HE."

"Don't even try to play HER like dat."

"Lil girl-" I said poking out my lips. "Anyway, here." I said handing her the envelope with the ultrasound pictures.

She basically screamed as she yanked it out of my hands. She took pictures, but she knew not to post them anywhere. Nobody but Mom, her, Leron, and her boyfriend knew. And since I'd always been chunky it was easy to hide even when I was around people.

I did my daily routine once I got home. Another quick shower, maintain my hairstyle (some cute luh soft locs done by yours truly), get dressed, and lounge around until it was time to cook dinner. I was feeling especially tired today so I wasn't excited for the cooking part.

I also found myself talking to the baby often. They were like my little diary.

"So mommy was like 'Boy stop acting like a baby and drink the damn tea.' And his ass finally drank it. And best believe he felt better as soon as he was done." I spoke to my unborn child.

"Ah, I miss ya daddy, baby. We gonna be straight tho." I smiled and continued rubbing my growing bump. "Ouu baby lemme tell you how I almost had to fight this bitch for lookin at ya daddy!"

Things had been slowly getting back to normal at the trap but I was rarely there now-a-days. The twins (Tito & Rico) had organized a BBQ for that weekend.  They said they just wanted an excuse to eat good, smoke, and drink, but I knew deep down they just wanted to cheer everybody up. I'd decided that I would announce my pregnancy at the cookout.

Leron and I went early to help with the setup. The twins, J, and Janet were there already. We greeted each other.

"Somebody been eatin good." J said after I pulled away from the hug. Janet slapped his arm hard causing him to look at her funny.

"The fuck?" Ron spat at him.

"Relax, it look good on you, T." He responded while putting his palms up.

"Mhm, imma be in the back." I said before storming off.

"Watch ya mouth br-" I heard Ron "whisper" as I walked off and the conversation faded away.

I went to Ken's room and locked the door. I stared silently sobbing. I didn't realize how much weight I'd gained. I should've expected it though. I'd spent the last several weeks in the house with a human growing inside of me, and eating whatever it wanted. I couldn't help but think that Ken would have found me completely disgusting. I didn't even wanna go back out.

My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door.

"Ay, can I come in?" Leron asked.

I wiped my nose and eyes quickly before getting up to unlock the door and open it.

He slipped in the door and locked it behind him before pulling me into a hug, careful not to apply too much pressure on my stomach.

"He's so mean! Why would he say that shit, like. Ion even wanna go back out there. Fuck!" I wailed dramatically, the words barely coherent. Luckily, Ron understood me.

"I know, I know." He cooed. "You wanna go home?"

"No I can't leave everybody here. And- and.." I said still crying. I started choking up so I caught my breath. "And I gotta do the announcement."

I looked up at the mirror, then down at my stomach.

"Damn nigga you got ya mommy out here lookin like a bitch. I'm a thug!" I chuckled through tears.

"You still a punk." Ron said in a baby voice. I flicked his ear.

"Das enough." I said as he winced from the pain and laughed.

I let out a huge sigh then prepared to leave the room.
