I walked around my room pacing as I thought about what had just happened. So much had happened in such a short space of time and I knew I had to tell Bethany, but I really didn't want to ruin her day by making it about me.

I needed to tell Brand, I needed to fix this relationship and I knew I needed to come clean about the King of the West. I couldn't lose him, he meant too much to me and I had treated him so unfairly.

Damien's words came back to me again as I felt a sting in my chest and I sighed, maybe he was right. Because of everything that happened, I had been making a lot about me, but he got one thing wrong. I fucking hated it. I wished more than nothing it was about someone else for once, that someone else could have the issues I was dealing with.

I sighed as I walked down the hall towards the Brands office, planning to check on Evelyn. However as I walked I could hear yelling from within and I slowly snuck up as I pressed my back up against the wall and listened in.

"I've told you before, I don't care how you do it, it must happen. For me to succeed and for us to succeed, it is the only way. I have worked too hard and risked too much to not succeed. She is too important to me for this to go wrong now" I heard Brand yell from inside,

I held my hand over my mouth, hiding my heavy breathing as I heard a muffled response, but I couldn't make out whose voice it was,

"Good, then it is sorted, now go. I don't want to hear a word off you, just get it done. I will not fight this battle in vain, and neither will she, I cannot lose her" he said as I heard him slam his fist against the desk.

I felt fear course through me as I took in his words, what on earth was he talking about? Risked what? And what must be done? And who was it on the other side of that message? I stepped back as I tried to sneak away but my stupid dress got caught as I felt myself knock a table outside and a vase smashed onto the floor,

I held my breath as I quickly pulled the dress rearranging myself before sprinting a bit down the hall and turning back around calming my breathing down,

I saw Brand rush out of his office looking around as I calmly walked towards him. "Who is there" he said as he turned his head to see me walking down the hall and he smiled,

"What on earth are you doing here, I thought I said I would come to you, I know this morning was less than ideal, but I plan to make it up to you" he said as I smiled and walked up to him placing a soft kiss on his lips, surprise filling his features "I came to see you before I got ready, I needed to talk to you" I said as I followed him into his study and he handed me a drink, one which I quickly gulped down.

He sat down at his desk as I looked around the room, placing the glass down and looking for any type of clue for who he was talking to. He watched me as I felt him slightly narrow his eyes and I quickly turned back around smiling and placing myself on the desk in between his legs.

I cradled his face in my hands as I ran my fingers over his lips, and I smiled. He was handsome, and all mine, no matter what I had just heard, despite what had happened, for some weird reason I still trusted him. I just felt it in my gut, I felt safe with him as if something was within me calming me and making me feel relaxed around him. He smiled as he wrapped his hands around my waist and lifted me onto his lap,

"Brand, I've been unfair to you, I've not been so truthful with you either." I said as he frowned tucking my hair behind my ear, "What you were doing this morning, I overreacted, you were just defending your throne, something any ruler would do, and it's completely unfair for me to punish you for not telling me the truth when I have done the same" I said as he watched me quietly, his eyes flashing with fear ever so slightly.

"I killed the King of the West" I blurted out as his eyes widened and he grabbed his glass, throwing down the contents as he rubbed his face, "Fuck Lillian" he said as he leant back in his chair and I bit my lip, "Brand, I didnt do it for fun, or for no reason, I did it to protect myself." I said as he raised an eyebrow,

"He was the one who sent those assassins after me, the night of the party" I said quietly as his eyes flashed black and I felt him tremble with rage, "What" he said quietly as I shuddered at the sensation of his power filling the room.
