a/n: this idea belongs to _priori they let me write this. thank you kait <33 also a warning that there are a little black widow spoilers!

y/n hopped out of her car, slamming the door behind her. She looked down at her feet squeezing her eyes shut as she took a deep breath trying to hold back tears. She had been to Natasha's grave before. Many times. But it never seemed to get any easier. She always ended up crying before she even got the grave.

"Okay." y/n mumbled to herself before taking another deep breath.

She walked down the pathway to the pink blossom tree where Natasha's grave sat. She slowly came to a stop when she saw a blonde woman. y/n's eyes studied her. She was wearing a yellow and black skirt with a matching jacket. She couldn't see her face. She was probably just a fan of Natasha. There were a lot of people who would come by and drop off flowers and gifts.

The sound of whistling broke y/n out of her thoughts. She stared at the girl intently for a moment. She knew that whistle. Natasha had told her about it. y/n now knew exactly who that was. Yelena Belova.

y/n slowly began to walk forward again. As she was walking, she stepped on a small pile of leaves making a loud crunch. Yelena whipped around and her eyes landed on y/n. She held a hard stare as she watched y/n continue to walk towards her.

"I know you." Yelena stated.

"I know you too." y/n responded.

"You're y/n y/l/n." Yelena said turning to face her. "Another one of the famous Avengers."

"I'm not too sure if the Avengers are a thing anymore, but sure." y/n shrugged standing side by side with Yelena. The two stared at each other for a minute.

"Can I ask you something?" Yelena questioned breaking the silence. y/n nodded. "How did it happen?"

"What?" y/n asked furrowing her brows.

"How did it happen?" Yelena repeated. "How did my sister die?"

"You wanna go grab a drink?" y/n asked. "It might make this easier to talk about."

⠉⠉⠉⠉

"So?" Yelena asked as the two sat at the table with their drinks. "How did it happen?"

y/n inhaled deeply. She lightly bit chewed on her bottom lip thinking about where to start.

"I wasn't there." y/n said. "I went with the others while her and Clint went to Vormir. Clint said that they got there and they came across this alien thing. I don't know to be honest. But to get the soul stone, one of them had to sacrifice themselves." y/n glanced up to see Yelena staring at her listening to every word closely. "A soul for a soul."

"Natasha sacrificed herself for a rock?" Yelena asked frowning.

"No, she sacrificed herself to save the world. She died a hero." y/n said. Yelena looked down at her drink with the same frown. "I was supposed to be there with them."

Yelena looked back up to her. She watched tears threaten to spill from her eyes as her lip quivered a little.

"Were you close with Natasha?" Yelena asked.

"Yeah, very." y/n nodded chuckling a bit. "We, um, we were actually engaged." She admitted.

"What?" Yelena asked shocked. "You and Natasha were engaged?"

"Yes." y/n nodded. "We had been engaged before the snap, and then we just never had a wedding because it didn't feel right doing it without everyone we care about."

"How long were you together?" Yelena asked.

"About 7 years." y/n said wiping her eyes.

Yelena tried hiding her shock, but it was hard. She had missed so much of Natasha's life. She had thought she knew everything about Natasha then here she was with her fiancée that she didn't know she had.

"I'm sorry." Yelena said softly.

"Me too." y/n gave her a sad smile.

"How did you know who I was?" Yelena asked.

"Nat would talk about you, Melina, and Alexei with me sometimes." y/n said.

"Really?" A smile formed a Yelena's face.

"Yeah, she always wondered if you were okay." y/n said.

"Did she keep the vest I gave her?" Yelena lifted a brow.

"She did." y/n chuckled. "She really liked all the pockets it had."

"It did have a lot of pockets. You could put so much stuff in them." Yelena said. "You wouldn't even know."

The two both sat in silence for a moment. Both had sad smiles while they thought about the life that was lost.

"To Natasha." y/n held up her glass a little.

"To Natasha." Yelena repeated clinking their glasses together before they both took a sip.
