We ran as fast as our legs could carry us, the area was dense with woodland and the floor was littered with tree roots and dead sticks. I held my teddy bear close to my chest as I pulled up the rear on our group of 3, I hung back to make sure everyone kept up and no one got left behind. We will never come back here, never....
We had just escaped the place that had held us for years and we never intend on returning. My legs grew tired and my mind screamed for me to stop, after all we have been running for at least 1 hour now.
Slowing down Grace finally decided to voice what I'm pretty sure we all wanted "guys, lets stop for a minute, we need a break" pulling over towards the right and deeper into the tree line. Leaning on a tree for support I slid down it and sat amongst the leaves "is everyone alright?" she asked leaning against a tree opposite. "yeah, what about you?" me and Shad's replied/ asked simultaneously.
She laughed and slid down the tree to land in the cushioning of dried leaves "I'm alright" she smiled. I looked over to Shadow to see her leaning on the tree next to Grace "so what now? we're out for the first time in 11 years...." Shad's started "no guards no Government no crazy scientist jabbing stuff at us" I finished putting my hands behind my head with a satisfied smile.
We sat there in a comfortable silence as we listened to the wind rustling through the autumn tree's. Hours passed and not a word was spoken, nor did we move, there was no need to, we where finally free of that nightmare so we just wanted to enjoy it.
Hugging my teddy Ruka-chan close to me I turned on my side hearing the leaves rustle underneath me and resting my head down on a tree root. Minutes later a set of footsteps where heard rustling through the leaves, not to far away from where we are resting. I sat up alert at the same time as Shad's, being part wolf meant our hearing was 10 times better than Graces so we could sense them quicker.
Grace stood as the footstep approached, we where ready to run if we needed or fight if necessary. A tall man in a black tail coat emerged out of the tree line, he didn't seem threatening and he wasn't with the government.... who is he?
He took a couple more steps towards us making me very uncomfortable, his aura wasn't right and surely he wasn't human.... thats when it hit me, he wasn't human. We had came across his type on missions "demon" me and Shad's said in sync. He smirked and took yet another step forward making me growl, he was seriously pushing boundaries.
I knew demons weren't all bad but I also knew not to trust anyone, no matter what or who they are in this world I can only trust Grace and Shadow....
"goodevening" he spoke, his voice was smooth and almost comforting, I just stood there monitoring him to make sure he didn't do anything out of line "hello...." Grace replied warily "who are you?" she asked looking at him.
