I hear my doorbell ring and when I went to open the door, my eyes widened.

"Maria, oh my god. What are you doing here." I asked while jumping in her arms and giving her a big hug.

"Well, I came to give my friend an escort to the airport."

"So Fury sent you?"

"Basically."

I laughed at that and invited her in while I went to grab my stuff.

"Alright, ready to go?"

I nodded my head as she opened the door. I took one last good look at my apartment and then closed and locked the door. I had a feeling that this may be the last time seeing it.

When the car finally stopped, I looked out the window and saw a private jet with a shield logo on it.

"Isn't this a little much?"

"Well, we have to keep the director on the down-low."

As we started to make our way to the jet, I couldn't help but say "wow I can't believe you just said on the down-low."

"Why do you say that?"

"Well, when it comes to work you always have a stick up your ass." I snorted out.

"hey!" Maria exclaimed while hitting me in the shoulder.

When everyone was seated, the plane took off and Maria and I caught up. I haven't seen her in a year. We've been pretty close friends ever since Nick found me when I was running from my past. They were almost like family to me and I trusted them with my life.

I was knocked out of my thoughts when Maria told me we were here. When I got off the plane, I could see a large building that said S.H.I.E.L.D. at the top. Also not far in the distance was the city. Chicago was big but I could tell NYC was bigger.

I walked with Fury, Maria, and some other agents to the elevator, heading for the top floor. Once we got there, Nick started to speak up. "Alright, they are in my office so don't be scared."

As he started to open the door, I responded with "please Nick, I don't get scared."

"She gets to call you Nick but no one else does. Not even Natasha."

As I looked up to see who the voice belonged to, I saw two handsome men whose faces I have seen all over TV.

"Hey kid, the name's Tony, and capsicle over here is named Steve."

"Yea I know, I don't live under a rock."

"Sassy, I like it."

"Tony, that's enough we can banter later."

Steve then looked over to me and continued. "We have seen videos and files about you and we know all about you. We want you to join us because we think you'll be a great asset and helpful when trying to find your dad."

"He's not my dad and I don't know where he is."

"That's alright kid but we still want you on the team."

"How do I know that everyone will like me?"

"Don't worry about that. We have told everyone about you and they all want you to join."

Because of my training from the red room, I could tell he was lying about the everyone wanting me to join part but I can't help if people don't like who I am.

"Alright, I'll do it."

"Great, let's take you to the tower to meet everyone."

"Woah slow down Tony, she might not want to meet everyone yet."

"It's fine Steve. I need to get it over with one way or another."

They just nodded their heads and started heading for the door. I gave Nick a nod and told him I'll talk to him later. Once we made it out of the building, I noticed a brand new Model X Tesla. Of course, Tony has a luxurious car. Boys and their toys. I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

When We finally made it to the city, I couldn't help but stare in shock. I didn't think it would be this busy.

"You get used to the crowds over time."

I gave Steve a warm smile and went back to admiring. As the car came to a stop, I stared up at the tower with wide eyes. Wow this building was huge.

"Alright, let's go meet them, kid."

I waited in the elevator, slightly nervous for everyone's reactions. I mean what if they all hate me or god knows what. We got out of the elevator and walked to a set of double doors. I read a sign beside it and it read meeting room.

"I called everyone here to meet you, so once I open this door you get to meet everyone."

I nodded my head at that and took a deep breath, preparing for what was to come.
