Axel's POV
“Hey, man. ” Jackson said to me as he came to seat next to me at my lunch table at the cafeteria.
This was weird cause Jackson and I never seat together cause people tend to mix us up, especially on days like this when I choose not to wear my lip ring.
“What do you want Jack? ” I asked not paying him any attention.
“I think I did something stupid that got you in trouble. ” He said with obvious guilt in his voice.
“What else is new? ” I asked sarcastically.
“I love how nonchalant you are about this, just, do me a favor and keep this same attitude for when I tell you what I did. ” Wow, he must have done something really bad for him to be stalling.
“What did you do Jack? ” I asked getting more serious about the situation.
“No, go back to being nonchalant. ” He said nervously.
“Tell me what you fucking did Jack! ” I demanded, slamming my hand on the table and gaining some stares. “Mind your business you fucking idiots! ” I yelled at the onlookers, causing them to quickly look away.
I have a slight anger problem but I'm working on it.
“I think we should go outside for this conversation, unless you want everyone knowing what happened. ” Jack said and I roughly stood up and walked out of the cafeteria without saying anything with Jack following quietly behind me.
“Okay, we're outside, now tell me what it is you did. ” I said when we got outside the cafeteria.
“Alright, so I was making out with Melanie in the physics class like we normally do yeah? By the way, she told me that you snitched on her, not cool man. ” Jack, like usual, started going off topic.
“Jack, focus. ” I said, stopping him from deviating further.
“Right, anyway, we were making out and then the door burst open and a teacher caught us. ” He said.
“And I care about this wh.... No, no, please tell me you're not about to say what I think you're going to say. ” I said as I felt the panic flooding into me.
“It was the French teacher. ” He said unable to look at me.
“No. ”
“And I think she thought I was you. ” He finishes.
“No. ”
“I'm sorry man, I didn't mean for it to happen. ” He said sounding remorseful.
“Do you have any idea what you've fucking done?! ” I yelled at him.
“I didn't do it on purpose! ” He yelled back.
“Just don't fucking talk to me right now man. ” I said and walked away with one thought in my mind, how to get Winter to believe that it wasn't me in that classroom.
I got to her office and knocked on the door for the first time ever. I heard her say a polite come in.
I walked in and closed the door behind me only to see her look up at me and her whole polite demeanor flew out the window, being swiftly replaced by what I've come to learn is her resting bitch face.
“What do you want Axel? ” She said looking as bored as she sounded.
“It wasn't me in that classroom with Melanie, it was Jackson my twin brother, you saw him the other day. ” I said.
“And I should care why? ” She asked sarcastically with the only change in her face being her eyebrow lifting up.
“Because it proves that I didn't cheat on you? ” I said as more of a question than a statement.
This had her laughing hard at me and I could feel myself getting angrier by the second. I hate being laughed at.
“For you to have been able to cheat on me Axel, you and I would have to be together and like I've told you time and again, we are not together and will never be together. ” She said in all seriousness after she stopped her laughing fit.
“So you kissing me yesterday meant nothing? ” I asked through gritted teeth, trying my best not to lose control cause I know she wouldn't give me the time of day if I acted like a fool around her.
“If I remember correctly, and I sure as hell know I do, you were the one who kissed me Axel, not the other way around. ” She said nonchalantly.
“And you kissed me right back Winter! Why are you trying to downplay what I know we both felt when we kissed?! ” I said raising my voice a little.
“I know I'm not the one you're raising your voice at Axel! ” She said standing up so I wasn't looking completely down on her. “Yes we kissed and yes it was great but that doesn't change the fact that it was wrong. If anyone found out about this, it would be my neck on the line not yours! I'd be the one to face all the prejudice that society would throw at me, I'd be the one that would lose my job and have my reputation sullied! If this were ever to get out, I wouldn't be able to work at any school ever again because I'd be seen as the teacher who crossed the line with her student! It wouldn't matter that you were the one who came after me, it wouldn't matter that you're of legal age, all that the rest of the world would see me as is the cheating whore with no morals who should be kept away from people's children. ” She said, calming down a little at the end. “So yes, I don't care if it was you in that classroom or not, what happened between us shouldn't have and I would like it if you could do me the favor of forgetting about it. ”
She sat back down and resumed her work while I stood stunned and unable to form any words to say that she was wrong because we both knew that she was so fucking right.
So, with that thought in mind, I turned around and quietly left her office.
I wasn't giving up though, far from it, I just had to figure out a way to convince her cause there is no way I'm losing her because of a corrupt and broken society that only knows how to judge people but refuses to see its own flaws.
