TRIBAL TOWN
They start walking again and go towards a big boat. When they reach the boat Marlow starts talking again, "As far as I can tell, this ship washed up about 10 years before I did."
"You've been here since '44?" Mason asks.
"Yeah. Hey, what happened with the war? Did we win?"
Slivko asks, "Which one?"
"Uh-huh. That makes sense."
They walk into the boat and inside there's people lining the walls and the walls have torches along them.
"This is all hallowed ground to them. So if you like your hands, don't touch anything." Marlow says.
They turn a corner and walk into a room that has big stones with stuff painted on them. Marlow takes off his hat before he enters the room.
"Oh! Look at that." Mason and Y/N say at the same time amazed.
Slivko turns to them and says, "You gotta stop that, it's a bit creepy." The sisters just keep walking.
When they all enter all of the tribal people stand up and turn to them.
"The way they tell it for thousands of years, the people on this island lived in fear." One of the stones were painted to look like tribal men pointing the spears at a skull of two huge creatures," That's a hell of a long time to be scared. And then," One showed people bowing to a monkey, "one day the damnedest thing happened. Some of the things they were afraid of started protecting them against the things that were eating them." Another one showed two skeletons of a monkey and a live one bowing it head down at them, "But nothing last forever, I guess. And this is where they honor the last of their saviors." The stone in the back middle, showed a monkey doing a Godly pose and people pointing their spears away from it, "Yeah. That's Kong. He's king around here. He's God to these people. Kong's a pretty good king. Keeps to himself mostly. This is his home. We're just guests here. But you don't go into someone's house and start dropping bombs unless you're picking a fight."
Y/N asks, "Wasn't Kong the one who killed your friend?"
"No. One of them did." He points to another rock sculpture that has a painted picture of a lizard thing with a skull as a face, "Kong's God on the island, but the devils live below us."
"And what are they called?" Conrad asks.
"The Iwis won't speak their name. But I call them skull-crawlers."
"Why?"
"'Cause it sounds neat."
Conrad nods his head and Mason looks at Conrad with a confused face, Conrad turns to her and she opens her mouth like she's going to say something but doesn't. Conrad says, "Okay."
"Look, I just made that name up. I'm trying to scare you." Marlow says.
"I'm fine calling them that. Are you cool with that?" Mason asks Conrad.
"Yeah...That seems like a great name." He says at the same time she says, "I like the name, so..."
"I've never said that name out loud before. It sounds stupid now that I say it. Just...You call them whatever you want. They're big lizard things. Nasty. They come from the vents deep down. That's why Kong got so mad. Those bombs woke up a bunch of them. I'll tell you what. You're lucky he's out there, too, or you wouldn't have made it this far. They're crafty bastards. Mean as hell. Now, he can handle them as long as he gets to them when they're still small. You don't wanna wake up the big one."
"How big is it?" San asks.
"It's bigger. It wiped out his whole family. Kong's the last of his kind, but he's still growing. And you better hope that he does. Because the Iwis say once Kong goes, then the big one comes up. Then it's, 'Goodnight, Irene." Marlow chuckles.
"Listen, there's a refueling team coming to the north end of the island in three days." Conrad says.
"You should come with us." Mason also says.
"We could get you home." Y/N says.
"To the north end of the island." Marlow laughs.
"We're gonna get you out of here." Conrad says smiling at him.
"In three days?" He asks still laughing.
"Yes."
They both laugh. Then Marlow brings his hand up and starts smacking Conrad's cheek, "You can't get to the north end in three days."
He says and stops smacking him, "Its impossible. That's it. No way." He says and turns away from them. He dramatically turns back and says, "At least not on foot."
