"Hello, I'm Mr. Hauser and welcome to detention. Now I see one familiar face, Charlie Smith, and one unfamiliar, Robin Buckley," the older man said walking into the classroom. He started gathering worksheets for the two to do. While grabbing a few papers he went back to the clipboard seeing the reason they were both there and he let out a small 'ah' and sat down the papers he was holding. "I see you are both here for starting an argument over All Quiet on the Western Front, is that correct?" Which they both nodded their heads slowly in agreement.

"Paul did commit suicide," Charlie muttered, but still load enough for Robin to hear.

"No he didn't! He had a 50/50 chance when standing up," Robin huffed crossing her arms.

"Ok well whatever it was there's no need to fight right now. Instead of making you two do busy work, you're going to write an essay together about something you both enjoy!" Mr Hauser clapped his hands together, "I'll be back at 6:30 when this ends." Before walking out of the room he placed a few pieces of paper on an empty desk.

Robin was the first one to get up and walk over to the paper. Charlie just stayed in the window seal looking at the slowly falling rain. "So what do you like?" Robin looked towards the other girl who just stayed quiet, "if we're gonna finish this I'm gonna need you to talk," all Charlie did was roll her eyes. "Ok fine. Do you like cars?" She asked before naming random things off the top of her head. "Is there anything you do like?" Robin rolled her eyes at the girls stubbornness.

"Yeah, girls." Robins face turned shocked and body immediately froze, "what about you?" Charlie asked walking over to Robin.

"Um I don't sorry," Robin rushed out.

"Aw what a shame Buckley," Charlie rested her hands at the end of the desk looking at the other girl. Robins cheeks turned a light shade of pink so she put her head down making sure the other girl would see, but Charlie moved Robins head to where she was now looking at her, "Buckley did you lie to me?" she asked their faces now inches away.

"No, now will you leave me alone?" Robin lied about the first part before removing her face from the other girls hand looking back down. "We can't write about that come up with something else," Robin stated listing off more things.

"God, do you ever shut up?" Charlie whinnied sitting on top of the desk behind her.

"I would if you helped with this paper, dingus," she said with an annoyed tone.

"Ok, fine. We argued over literature let's just write about that?" Charlie suggested.

"Glad we could finally come to a conclusion," Robin said sarcastically under her breath before starting to write.

"What- No- Dude, you aren't gonna make a plan or some shit?" the taller girl asked looking down over the paper.

"I'm sorry? Would you prefer to write the paper?" Robin looked up at Charlie.

Charlie nodded her head taking a piece of paper and starting to write out a plan before handing it over to robin to put it all together.

"You know your writing style is much more organized than you," Robin looked up from the paper the other girl had just gave her.

"Yeah, I know," Charlie stated calmly as Robin started writing the essay.

-

"And....done," Robin set the pencil down. Charlie took the paper off the desk reading it.

"It's a lot more...." she paused for a moment trying to think of a word, "free, then i would've wrote it," she says holding the paper in her hand. "I'll go set it down on the desk for him," she gets up walking over to the desk.

"I'll go talk to Mr. Hauser then. See if we can leave early?" Robin got out the of the seat and started walking over to the door but was stopped by Charlie.
"What now?" she asked looking down at her.

"Trust me he won't let us....also you probably don't wanna go out there. It's those fuck head Steve's pathetic ass friends that were younger than him," she scoffed walking away from the door hoping she wouldn't leave.

"You know this how?" Robin questioned.

"Remember what he said at the beginning of this? I come here a lot so just trust me unless you wanna see popular kids making out against the lockers," she sat down on the front of a desk looking making a disgusted face before looking at Robin then to the door through her bangs.

"Fine. I guess we'll wait here," Robin sat into a desk behind Charlie. "I guess if we're stuck here together let's get to know one another?" she suggested.

"Sure. Favorite movies?" Charlie asked.

"The Apartment, The Hidden Fortresses, And Children Paradise. What about you?" Robin answered then directed the question back to the other.

"Diamonds Are Forever," she stated. "Any siblings?"

"Nope, just me. You?" Robin asked.

"Yeah. I have an older brother Rowan Smith," Charlie answers.

"Sounds familiar..." Robin says to herself.

"Yeah, top of his class, one of the only people to get out of this awful town and make a life for himself," Charlie replied with hope in her tone, "But he's back, for now. Only to take care of a few things, then probably will leave again," she stated.

Robin just nodded her head not wanting to push or over step any boundaries. "By the way I know Steve. He's not as bad of a guy as he makes himself out to be," Robin looked over at her remembering last summer events.

"Mhm sure. Did you guys have something going on?" Charlie looked at her.

"God no!" Robin laughed, "we're just friends and trust me it'll never be anything else. He's not my type."

"So, what is your type," Charlie asked putting important on the word 'type'.

"Um....well s - they would have to be funny, smart, have good taste in movies, someone i could go on adventures with. Ya know?" Robin looked at the other girl.

"Can I ask you one more question? Remember it's just us in here, ok?" Charlie tapped her fingers on the desk.

"I guess."

"Did you..uh...lie earlier when i asked if you liked girls?" Charlie just wanted to know for whatever reason. She didn't really know why she wanted to know so bad, but she did.

Robin stayed quiet for a few moments trying to figure what she should respond with. She knew Charlie was out at school, well for the most part, but she was scared for most people's reaction. All the she did was nod her head then quietly let out a 'yeah' before looking back up at Charlie.

"Cool, cool," Charlie nodded her head.
