"Are you entering the contest?!" my friend Hana shrieked.
"What contest?" I asked, shutting my locker.
"Really? Do you not know? SHINee is holding a random drawing and the winner gets to film a reality variety show with them FOR 8 MONTHS!" she said.
I instantly turn my back to her and walk away to class. I love K-pop (such as Super Junior and MBLAQ and etc.) and all, but I can't stand hearing that name.
"Yah! Minji! Where are you going?" she yelled and stomped after me.
"You said it," I bluntly say.
"Ohhh, I forgot. Sorry. Just listen to what I have to say,"
I swiftly turn around on my heels. "I'm listening,"
She sighs and says, "Look, me and Suhyun are trying to get all of our group of friends to enter the contest so we have a bigger chance of winning. You in?"
"No," I say.
"Why? Wait, here's a better question: why do you hate SHINee?"
I pause. I shift my weight on both of my feet. "I don't hate them... It's just that...well...-"
"Well?" Hana asked impatiently.
"Jeez, let me finish! My little cousin freaking ADORES SHINee, but she told me that she went to their signing once and this one guy... what's his name? J... Jong-"
"Jonghyun."
"Right. He made her cry,"
She stays silent for a few seconds while we start walking to class, then laughs and says, "What did she do?"
"Yah!" I yell, "It's more like what did HE do?"
"Are you sure that's true?" she asks. I nod my head.
"Maybe it was just a mistake!" she exclaims.
"Maybe..." I fade off.
"Well, will you please still enter? We're pretty sure we might not win anyway, so why don't you do it?"
I hesitate for a moment, then exhale. "O...okay,"
"Oh my God, yay! Thank you!"
"Eh,"
"C'mon!" she says, smiling and grabbing my hand. "We don't wanna be late,"
I nod my head. "Okay!"
