It's the next day and Laura is driving to work. Things have been really busy at work and Laura is feeling the pressure. She still has 7 whole months left and doesn't know if she can cope. She arrives at the school a paints a smiles on her face like she always does. She is sitting at her desk and the bell is about to go
"I don't know if I can do this anymore" Laura mutters as the bell rings and students come running in
"Hi Miss Russell!!" Mike says enthusiastically
"Morning Mike!" Laura says with a huge smile on her face
The kids come in and say good morning to Laura one by one
"Grab a chair and we can get started!" Laura says smiling
It's halfway through her lesson and everyone is getting on with their tasks until two gun shots go off. All the kids are screaming and have faces of sheer panic.
"Get under the desks!" Laura says calmly
Laura calmly turns off the lights and hides under her desk praying that nothing bad happens
*At the firehouse*
"So how was the big date?" Kelly asks as he hits caseys shoulder
"She's amazing! A lot different that Emma's mum" Casey says as he smiles
"Your mean Gabby? You can say her name you know?" Kelly says looking at Casey sympathetically
"Hey guys come see this!" Cruz shouts as they run in
"What?" Kelly asks
"There's a shooting at Chicago Academy" Cruz says as he turns up the TV
"A shooting has been reported at Chicago Academy today with all members of staff and students still trapped inside. 3 faculty members and 3 students have been shot according to campus cop Pc John Miller" The news lady says
"Swat and Army officers arrived on scene 30 minutes ago. However they quickly noticed the fire spreading along the 3rd floor and are calling for firefighter assistance" The other news man says
"All units, School Fire, Chicago Academy" The intercom echoes throughout the entire firehouse making Casey feel sick to his stomach
They all run out and Kelly catches up with Casey
"Is that?" Kelly asks
"Laura and Emma's school! Yeah!" Casey says as he climbs into his truck
*Casey's POV*
As we drove to the scene my heart felt like it was going at 100MPH. My only child and the woman I had been dating was stuck in that building. I don't know how I can lead a whole truck into that situation
"You okay Captain?" Herrmann says as he lays a reassuring hand on my shoulder
"Yeah! Great!" I replied obviously lying but I didn't need him on my case too
*Lauras POV*
In my 7 years of teaching I have never experienced something quite like this. How am I supposed to protect 16 kids from 2 men with guns. Don't get my wrong I love my job but do I love it that much to hold my hands up to a gun man. Thoughts were racing through my mind and I had zoned out although I hadn't realised until I heard mikes voice
"Are we going to die?" Mike asked me with all of their little heads turning towards me
I had never felt more pressure. I couldn't tell them the truth because I couldn't let them down like that
"Of course not! There going to get us out!" I said with a smile of my face pretending that everything's going to be alright
*Outside the School*
51 have just arrived on scene and Kelly spots Erin. So he runs over to her
"Well?" Kelly asks with Casey joining him
"It's not looking good, we have 3 men in there loaded with guns. The body count has went up to 8 now and we can't get inside." Erin replies
"Don't tell Casey that whatever you do!" Kelly says looking at Casey
"How come?" Erin asks concerned
"Emma his kid? She goes there" Kelly says as they hear another gun shot go off followed by screams...
