The Calm Before the Storm (1)

Chapter 7

He quickly lunged on me and was able to get a few punches in before I managed to grab his arm and twist it behind his back. I put more pressure on his arm, he screamed in pain, I kept putting pressure on it until I heard the sound of his arm breaking. I quickly put him into a head lock and snapped his neck.

I let his body fall to the floor as I took some deep breaths, trying to calm down. Adrenaline was coursing through my veins, I felt the urge to kill, I could feel my vision blurring and I was hyperventilating.

I started to lose my balance, I put my arm on the wall to try and support myself, I could feel myself losing touch with reality.

Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder, I flinched at the sudden contact, I tried to make out the figure in front of me, all I could see was the silhouette of a man. That was the last thing I saw before I gave into the darkness, letting my body fall to the ground.

Maddox's pov-

We decided to split up, since there was so much ground to cover. By the time we had cleared the third floor, Melina had already found Adam. We started searching the rooms, trying to find her. I kicked open the last door, I was greeted with the sight of eight dead bodies laying on the floor. I scanned the room and saw Melina leaning against the wall hyperventilating, I scanned her body and noticed she was drenched in blood. I ran over to her and put my hand on her shoulder, trying to calm her down. I couldn't help but feel a little hurt when she harshly flinched at my touch. Not a second later, her body gave out, she passed out, I was able to catch her before she hit the ground.

I picked her up and carried her out of the room, Max was caming running out of one of the rooms he had been searching. His eyes widened when he saw Melina covered in blood, passed out in my arms.

" What the fuck happened to her!?" he shouted angrily, with a worried expression etched on his face.

" I don't know, when I found her she was seconds away from passing out," I replied, walking past him and making my way back down stairs.

We made it out to the car where Theo and Silas were waiting, they both froze when they saw Melina passed out in my arms.

" What the fuck happened to her?!" Silas shouted.

I ignored his question, I opened the back door and put Melina in the back with Theo and Max. Silas got into the passenger's seat, I hopped into the driver's seat, started the car, and sped off.

" Should we take her to the hospital?" I asked, looking at Max through the mirror.

" No, we just need to get her home," he replied.

Max's pov-

I looked down at my sister, her head was resting in Theo's lap as he played with her hair. I knew this was hard for him, it was hard for all of us. Theo and Melina have always been very close, Theo is a very light hearted person, except for when it comes to Melina's well being.

I was worried about my twin, but unfortunately this has happened before, we have to be careful sometime when it comes to killing. It can be very easy to lose control and let the blood lust take over, it's a powerful urge. We were designed to kill, he turned us into weapons.

I kept a firm grip on Melina's hand, I knew that she was probably going to be okay, but I couldn't help but worry. I looked at Theo once again, his eyes were filled with unshed tears, he had a tight hold on Melina, chin resting on the top of her head.
