your pov

i get out of bed and sigh.

these days are always the worst.

i get dressed (in whatever you want, its your imagination :]) and head into my moms room, shes already ready to leave, i help her tie her shoes and help her down the stairs, out the door, and into the car.

as i get into the drivers seat i cant help but look at her she looks so fragile.

the car drive is almost silent other than the radio playing.

"are you prepared"

"for what?" i ask het in confusion

"for when i die"

i sit there, taken aback by her question, still driving, but not responding.

"i need to know you'll be okay, y/n"

"how could someone ever be prepared to lose someone they love"

she goes quiet and doesn't speak again until we arrive at the hospital.

theres already nurses outside waiting with a wheelchair and before they take her in they tell me

"she'll be out in about two hours, come back around then"

"okay, thank you so much"

i get back into the car and try to think of what to do for the next two hours.

i text tommy

hey what are you
doing rn

nothing, why?

would you like to
meet at the mall?

yes, i just have to
ask my mum

child

im a few months
older than you

child.

shut the fuck up,
she said yes
i'm on my way.

see you soon, tomathy.

😐

i put my phone away, smiling, and pull out of the parking lot and start my journey to the mall.

as i arrive, i get a text from tommy

are you here????

yes, where are you?

meet me at games.

how typical, i make my way inside and walk to the game store.

there he is, in all his glory, white shirt with red sleeves, khaki pants, messy hair, and raggedy ass shoes.

"hey"

"hey"

we stand awkwardly for a minute.

"i thought you were busy today"

"um- well- i am"

"then why are we hanging out?"

"its complicated"

"im sure i'll understand, i'm a smart lad, just tell me"

"my mum has cancer, tommy"

"oh shi-"
