Headcanons

Feel free to give any more of your headcanons in the comments! These are a mix of Modern and canon

- Race has anxiety and he shuffles cards to deal with it
- Also, he doesn't actually smoke the cigars. His dad was addicted to them and he uses them to fidget with and as a way to remember him.
-Spot and Race really close (romantically or platonically, I ship both sprace and ralbert) and Racer is the only Manhattan newsie who is allowed to sell in Brooklyn, because he loves Sheepshead Races
- Brooklyn and Manhattan are allies (wOw BiG sHocKer ThEre), even though Spot still hasn't forgiven Jack for betraying them
-Race is itailan, and his real name is Ed/Eddie
-Spot's is Sean
-The only other Manhattan newsie Spot likes is Elmer, who he is nice to
- Race came up with 'Snyder the spider'
Fun Fact: The real Racetrack Higgins was the leader of the Brooklyn newsies, how confusing does that make Sprace?

-At least once a week, the newsies (+ Kathrine and Sarah sometimes) have a game night, which everyone takes very seriously
- Jack once took 4 hours choosing his piece in monopoly
- Crutchie is surprisingly good at uno
- One time, the Brooklyn boys came and lost every game (Spot never got over it)

- A few months after the strike, Medda and Governor Roosevelt got married; all the Newsies got invited
- Jack cried as Medda walked down the aisle
- He was also the best man
- Albert and Race got really drunk at the reception and almost set the building on fire, JoJo and Finch stopped them
- Medda had a magenta wedding dress, on suggestion of Sarah (who was one of her bridesmaids)
- Sarah loves fashion and gives fashion advice to the Newsies (+ Kathrine) when they go on dates

- Bronx are not as scary as they think they are; they also have the youngest leader out of all of them
- Finch got his slingshot from his mother and is very protective over it, the only person who can touch it without dieing is Crutchie because he can't get mad at him
- Let's be honest, who can get mad at Crutchie?
- Also, Finch was the first to find out about Blush
^ that made JoJo and Albert very angry when they found out they had told him first

- Jack still gets nightmares from the refuge, which is why he sleeps on the rooftop
- Only Crutchie knows that he stil gets nightmares and how bad they really are, and he still comforts Jack when he has one
- Jack found Crutchie on the streets and took him to the lodge (and found him his first crutch)
-They once got a noise complaint because Jack was screaming after a nightmare
- Let's just say Crutchie was not happy
- Jack had to hold him back
- Jack is trans and his dead name was Francis (I know that's a boy's name but that's his canon real name so I think it fits)
-he came out at 12, even though before that the Newsies called him Cowboy not cowgirl
- Jack has a stolen horse called Steven, who he loves
- Davey, on the other hand, is disapproving of Steven

- Davey reads the younger Newsies to help them sleep
- When he found out Jack had trouble sleeping he started reading to him too
- He mostly reads cowboy books (on request) but Jack seems to like classics too
- Davey can't sell to save his life
- You could say when he's selling, Davey's poor head is spinning

- Les sells more then Davey and Jack combined

- In modern, Race chews pens instead of cigars
- they constantly explode all over him
- which Davey hates a lot
- You can guarantee that every time it does, he gets a firm mum telling off from Davey and a dad talk on how he shouldn't chew on pens from Jack
- And that they once had a scene like this:
"Oh, they got a mother, I was thinking of getting me one"
"What did ya do with the one ya have?"
"He traded her for a box of pens"
"Hey, they was biros"
- Davey packs snacks and drinks for the Newsies + he has a mini van
- The mini van is really old and a hand-me-down down from his dad but it can fit half of the Newsies in it
- More then one time, the Newsies have accidentally called him so variation of mum
- At first he was hesitant but now he fully embraces the mom friend lifestyle

- Spot has a dog called Sadie, and is very protective over her
- she is basically the dog form of Spot: small, angry and very loud
- Race likes to annoy him by pretending Sadie is Spot and Spot is the dog
- Last time that happened, he got a black eye
- One time Jack saw Race do this and played along, patting Spot's head
- Spot bit his hand, making it swollen for ten days

- Blink and Mush are always either holding hands or have a arm wrapped around the other + they act so coupley that it makes people who are dating feel single
- everyone knew they had a crush on each other from the beginning
- Mush is trans (ftm) and his dead was Michelle
- He came out at 14
- Blink kissed Mush first
^ Mush was very confused first and asked him if he thought Mush was someone else, which made him annoyed.
- All of the Manhattan Newsies shipped them for years
- In modern, they made a group chat and would send pictures of them and fangirl like friggin maniacs
- I mean, they are maniacs but yeah
- Elmer came up with 'Blush'
