"What's his name? Cookie?" I asked the mother of the cute and handsome child I'm checking for tonight.

They came late at night, the mother is frantic and nervous, may lagnat kasi ang baby niya at natatakot siya.

"Y-yes," She answered, halata ang kaba sa mukha. "I-is he okay, Dra.? It's his first time to catch a fever so I am worried."

"Yes, he is." Nakita ko ang ginhawa sa mukha niya sa sagot ko. "It's just a simple fever, nangyayari talaga sa mga bata."

"T-thank, God!" She gasped, hinilamos pa ang mukha. "S-sorry, Dra., if I panicked. I-I'm just worried for him..."

"It's good, Miss." I smiled at her. "It's good na dinala mo siya kahit simpleng lagnat lang, we never know what a fever indicates so, you did the right thing." I said gently, marahang inaabot ang gwapong bata sa higaan.

"What a cute and strong kid," I uttered adorably, staring at the kid's face. "His dimples reminded me of someone."

"He...got it from his father." She answered me and I nodded, inaabot sa kanya ang kamay ko.

"I'm Philomena." Pakilala ko. "But that's a mouthful so, you can call me Philie."

"Darshana, Dra. Philie." She smiled at me. "Just call me Daru, nice meeting you, Dra." She accepted my hand for a handshake.

"Anyway, Daru, here is the prescription para kay Cookie." Sabi ko. "You can buy it in the pharmacy outside."

May narinig kaming katok sa loob ng clinic kaya natigilan kami sap ag-uusap.

"Babe?" I heard a man's voice outside and hearing that, I already knew who that is. "Can I go inside? I'm just gonna check some folders."

Nilingon ko si Daru at ngumiti, "that's my boyfriend, a doctor here too, OB-gyne. Is it okay kung papasok siya? May kukunin lang."

"Oh, sure!" She said and nodded. "It's okay."

I thanked her before speaking, "it's okay. Pasok ka." I said and the door opened.

My boyfriend got inside the room, nakita ko ang pagbaling niya saglit sa akin at kumindat kaya nangiti ako. He glanced at my patient's mother and spoke.

"Sorry for the trouble," he said but then stopped after staring for a while kaya nagsalita na ako.

"Angelo, this is Darshana." I said. "The handsome kid's her son, Cookie."

Tumayo si Daru at napatitig kay Angelo kaya pinakilala ko sila sa isa't-isa.

"Daru, this is Angelo, boyfriend ko. Sorry sa abala, hmm? He's just gonna take some folders." I smiled before glancing at Cookie, the handsome kid. "Look at her baby, handsome, right? His dimple reminded me of Chance, your bestfriend."

Angelo shifted his gaze on the bed and saw Cookie, nabakas ko ang kung anong emosyon sa mga mata niya roon kaya medyo nagtataka na ako.

"Yeah, he looks just like Chance..." I noticed something on his voice when he said that, bumabaling kay Daru. "Excuse me, Miss. Sorry sa abala, I'm just gonna take these..." kinuha niya ang folder sa gilid ng lamesa.

"I'll go, thank you." Aniya, sumulyap pa sa akin. Titig pa lang niya ay parang may gusto siyang sabihin sa akin pero hindi niya itinuloy, sa halip ay bumaling siya sa bata bago sumulyap kay Daru at umalis kaya sinulyapan ko ang huli bago nagsalita.

"Sorry for that," I smiled. "Cookie can stay here for the night and the kids—"

"C-can I go to the pharmacy now?" her voice almost shook kaya mabilis akong tumango.
