Boarding School - SBI

Chapter One

Tommy, who had just woken up, was stressed about going to boarding school for the first time. Or school at all, he had never gone to school, instead being homeschooled his entire life.

After he woke up, Tommy grabbed his uniform that he'd set out the previous night. A button down blouse, black dress shoes, a blazer and dress pants. He didn't dislike the outfit, nor did he like it much.

After Tommy put on the clothes, he crept downstairs to the living room, lost in thought.

Joining a school part way into the year makes it difficult to do anything. Friendships have been formed, classes will have been going on for a bit so you're behind, and tests are coming up for things you haven't studied yet, etc. But despite this, Tommy chose to be optimistic and think about the people he could meet.

Sitting on the couch with his phone, Tommy scrolled Reddit for an hour, until someone popped up behind him unexpectedly.

"Boo," Wilbur whispered behind Tommy, half wanting to scare him, but at the same time not really, so it didn't come out all that scary. "Why are you up so early?" Wilbur asked, speaking quietly.

Unlike Wilbur, Tommy didn't think to be quiet, so said loudly, "I couldn't sleep, I'm super excited to go to school!"

Wilbur winced, Tommy was loud. Before Wilbur could complain about Tommy's noise level, they heard their dad, Phil, in the kitchen getting pots and pans out.

When Wilbur and Tommy entered the kitchen, they found a small array of ingredients spread out on the island, with Phil messing with their old gas stove. It looked to the boys like he was making blueberry pancakes for breakfast.

When Phil had flipped the last pancake, he sent Tommy to get Techno so that they could eat.

Tommy was quite happy with his given mission, but more so that Wilbur, and not he, had to set the table. Running up the stairs, Tommy reached Techno's room and banged on the door once before barging in.

"Wake up!" he shouted, then seeing that Techno was still in bed, proceeded to jump on it.

Techno grounded, and rolled over, to see Tommy jumping on his bed, right next to him. "Off!" Techno snapped, making his younger brother laugh. Tommy left the room, going back to the kitchen. When Techno arrived, they ate.

Tommy was ecstatic about going to school, and wolfed down his pancakes so he could go sit outside to wait for their ride. "Slow dwon dude," Techno said, seeing that Tommy had finished his pancakes at lightning speed.

"Whatever." Tommy grumbled with fake annoyance, setting his plate on the counter next to the wash bin, and running outside to wait. Phil laughed at his antics, and Wilbur put his hand up to pretend like he couldn't see Tommy.

After they had put their plates in the sink for Phil to take care of later, the rest of the small family joined Tommy outside on the front porch, sitting and enjoying the quiet.

When the sleek black Mercades drove up just ten minutes after they had all gotten outside, Phil hugged each of his boys one last time and said a final goodbye before waving them off to their new adventure at boarding school.
