"Oh, 3 am? Great." You muttered annoyed for yourself when you saw the neon red digits on your alarm. You always tended to have a good peaceful sleep, but recently it all changed. You were pretty well aware of why you had been feeling like that. It was because of Lando.
You caught yourself with a smile on your face when you saw the way he put his clothes on while he was dancing in the mirror. You adored the way he made you laugh. God, you even found yourself calling him babe when he was racing. You would never tell him, but you were one of his biggest supporters when he wasn't looking. You wouldn't let him know because it was you who suggested that no strings should be attached. You didn't want to put a label on it because you tried to tell yourself that you wouldn't feel things then.
No matter how desperately you tried to fall asleep again, you just couldn't. So you spent the rest of the night thinking whether you should tell Lando about your feelings or not. You didn't want to put yourself out there because you were afraid of the outcome. He wasn't complaining about not labelling things.
"Y/N, you look tired," Lando said when you got in the car. He was picking you up from uni because you two wanted to spend some time together at his place before he leaves for another race.
"No shit, Sherlock," You muttered. It turned out that attending classes today wasn't the best idea since you were already tired and not in a good mood.
"Hey, I was just saying. You don't need to come at me." Lando said quietly. He didn't look at you since he was focusing on the road. As you were looking at him you could tell that he was a little bit sad from your reaction.
"I know, sorry. I'm just... tired," You apologised quietly. You really didn't want to ruin this day because it was one of the last days Lando was in the UK.
"Couldn't you sleep well?" A question left his mouth. His eyebrows furrowed as he was watching the traffic around you. No matter how much he liked to pick you up from uni, he hated the traffic in London. He always enjoyed just driving around, but he could enjoy it properly here because of the traffic lights.
"Yeah, I woke up at 3, and I couldn't fall asleep since then." You explained to him while looking out of the window. It was the end of May, so England started to be a little warmer, but it was still pretty shitty weather.
"Why is that? Any bad dreams?" He asked you carefully. You might have no strings attached, but he still cared about you. He was always so cautious.
"Nah, my thoughts are just haunting me," You gave him a quick explanation before you nestled down in your seat. "I'm gonna try to catch some z's if you would mind."
"Not at all," he reassured you. The way was pretty long. Under normal circumstances, it takes an hour to get to Woking, but since there was much more traffic on the roads, you expected that it would take about an hour and a half.
You were woken up by Lando when he was unfastening your seat belt. You could tell he was trying to be as quiet and careful as possible not to wake you up.
"Hello there, sleepyhead. I'm sorry for waking you up. I just wanted to carry you to the bed." A gentle smile was playing on his lips. You found it extremely cute that he wanted to carry you to his bed. That's just how Lando is - cute, sweet and adorable.
"It's alright, Lan. I can walk," you laughed a bit when you made your way to the front door. "I know," he mumbled. "You didn't seem to have such a big problem falling asleep now. Am I so boring?" He chuckled for a bit.
"No, you're not. It's just because of you," these words left your mouth without even realising it. You couldn't take them back.
"Okay, ehm, I wasn't expecting this answer," he responded quickly.
"I wasn't expecting this either," You said quietly, but you were sure that Lando could hear you. "I know I was the one to want no strings attached, but... I found myself falling hard for you. I'm smiling like an idiot when you text me. I'm cheering for you in front of the TV, and also it's getting harder to fall asleep without you... Without your arms around me." You confessed. The weight dropped from your shoulders, and you finally felt at least a little better. "What I'm saying is that I want to put a label on things. I want to be yours, but I get it if you don't want that. I know you're busy with racing and all the things around that. Not putting the label on this is probably better for you."
"I think I've been falling for you since the beginning. I would love to put a label on this. I would love to be able to kiss you every time I want and without any reason. I want to hold you in my arms every night, and I think I need to see that cheering for me in the paddock. I need to test if you're a good fangirl." Lando said amusedly.
"I think I can definitely pass that exam." You said alluringly in Lando's ear.
