friend - Lando Norris.

The gloomy weather in Woking must have copied your mood. Like the weather, you were grumpy, sulky and miffed. You weren't sure if you were glad that your best friend Lando wasn't home or if you were annoyed even by that. Everything seemed to irritate you, thanks to your stupid boyfriend. Well, now thanks to your ex-boyfriend.

You were a mess, and the house that you had shared with Lando was as well. An untidy kitchen, a mess on the floor in the living room, not to mention the state of your bedroom. You tried to tell yourself that you're better without him, but it didn't work. Without even realising it, a few days flew by, and Lando came back home. You were pretending for a whole day that there was nothing wrong, but as soon as the door to your bedroom closed behind you broke down.

You sat on the floor with your back leaning against the bed. It was in the middle of the night, so you sat in the dark. You bit down your bottom lip as you tried to hold in the sob that was about to leave your throat as more tears streamed down your cheek. You even covered your mouth with your hand and pressed your eyes shut, desperately trying to calm yourself down because you didn't want Lando to worry. Unfortunately, this wasn't working, and more tears streamed down your cheek.

You recognised that you hadn't been successful with being quiet because by a small ray of light under your door, it was clear to you that Lando was on his way to your room. When you heard footsteps coming closer to your room you, quickly got up and jumped into your queen size bed, turning back towards the door.

You heard a soft knock on your door before Lando opened it. You didn't even bother to pretend to sleep since you knew that he'd recognise immediately anyway.

"What's wrong?" His voice was husky and raspy, which gave you a clear sign that he was sleeping just a while ago. You felt the bed sag under his weight when he sat down, letting you know that he wasn't planning to go anywhere. But you stayed quiet because you knew how much must be Lando tired after an exhausting race weekend. You could imagine that the last thing he wanted to do at one in the morning was reassure you.

"I heard you crying just a few seconds ago. I know that something is wrong." He didn't want to pressure you. He knew from his personal experiences that the last thing that person in such a state wants is to be forced speak.

"I'm here for you, Y/N." His voice was soft. When you heard this sentence, a sob left your mouth. It was something that Connor used to tell you. He was there for you until he wasn't. Lando sighed out and got into bed. He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into his chest, spooning you from behind.

"So, what is it?" He asked you quietly again since he was worried about what happened. You turned around to be able to face him. You could see he didn't like to see you like this. It was breaking his heart.

"Connor and I... We broke up." You explained quietly and let another sob leave your mouth. It surprised him because you two seemed inseparable even though you were dating just for a couple of months.

"What, why?" He asked confusedly and rubbed your back to comfort you.

"I broke up with him." You admitted. Lando was confused by this even more because if you broke up with him, you wouldn't be so sad. Unless-

"Did he do something?" You could tell from the sound of his voice that he was starting to grow angry. "Y/N, answer me."

"He... He slept with someone else." You whispered embarrassedly. You were ashamed of it because it meant you just weren't enough for him, and it made you wonder if you'd be ever enough for someone else.

"He did what?! He's such a dick." He was pissed off. "I cannot believe that he fucking cheated on you. I swear if I meet him somewhere, then..." Lando was getting this mad just rarely. You haven't seen him that angry and annoyed ever. He was always so good at keeping his emotions to himself, especially the aggressive ones.

"You know the worst thing is that... I wanted to surprise him. I skipped two classes and went to his apartment. I thought... Jesus, I thought he's gonna be so happy and surprised to see me... and yeah... I was the surprised one. I just can't believe that he was sleeping with Molly behind my back." More tears started to stream down your cheeks, so Lando hugged you tightly. He wanted to make you feel safe and comfort you.

"Why was I not enough, Lan? Is there something wrong with me? Maybe I'm too fat or not tall enough. Or is it my personality?" You were sobbing into Lando's white T-shirt. These words hurt him because you are the most perfect human being on Earth for him. He couldn't understand how you couldn't be for Connor as well.

"No, Y/N. You're perfect in every single way. You're precious and he's just fucking stupid." Lando mumbled. He wanted to tell you how he really feels about you but recognised it wasn't the best moment to do so. You spent the rest of the night in his arms, listening to all those sweet words he was whispering to you. For that night, he was just the best friend, but maybe in the future, he could be more.
