(Your Pov)

The past week had flown by like nothing. You and Peter made up easily on Monday, and although it was a bit awkward at first, soon you were back to being close friends. You and Loki thought to each other nearly non-stop, about the most random things. Whether it was talking about new movies he had to watch, to swapping embarrassing stories about Thor, to what you were working on in your lab, talking to him was exhilarating every time. Plus it was great telekinesis practice, and you even managed to call him a few times at school.

The team still hadn't figured anything out between the two of you. Sure, the occasional confused glance was sent your way if you brought two plates of food upstairs, and even more so if you went to your own floor. If the two of you were with the team at the same time, you tried to ignore each other. Oftentimes this failed though, especially if someone mentioned something inside-joke worthy, like coffee. That led to too many almost laughing coughs, as well as a few suspicious smirks. Luckily Loki could use an illusion if he wanted, but when you suddenly burst out giggling... Only Natasha knew why.

MJ luckily knew how to keep a secret, and didn't tell anyone about your soulmate. As well as Loki being your soulmate, or that you met them, or that you have telepathic communication with him. She was nice like that. Peter was less secretive, although the topic was never brought up luckily. If it had been... You may have to move schools.

The week passed like a blur, your birthday slowly inching closer. Inevitably the day came, and you predictably woke up before eight. How? Or better yet, why? It was so ridiculously annoying to never sleep in.

So you woke up a quarter to eight, slowly processing everything around you. Which was nothing around you. Well, nothing different than any other day you've woken up.

You change into your favorite and most comfortable outfit, before throwing on your dad's old MIT hoodie as well. Today you didn't care what you looked like, as long as you could enjoy yourself. That's what birthdays were all about, right?

Right as you're about to leave the room, Jarvis's voice startled you.

"Miss, I was told to inform you to head to the garage. Mr. Stark has a surprise."

"Oh no." You whisper to yourself, hoping he hasn't gotten you another car. Ever since you got your driver's licence at 16, he's been spoiling you with a new car for every holiday. Or adding gizmos and advancements to your old cars, that was also something he really liked to do.

So you hurry to the garage, thinking he's done something irrational for your eighteenth birthday. Like buy you eighteen new cars. It didn't seem like too much of a stretch for something he might try and do, which meant that you were dreading he had done just that. You didn't need any more cars! You barely even left the tower anyways!

"Dad, I swear if you got me one more car-'' You say, as you exit the elevator. Instead, your dad was waiting for you in an unfoldable lawn chair. Why was he like this?

"I didn't, actually. I did something much better." He replied, engulfing you in a hug. "Happy birthday!"

"Thank you. But please tell me what you've done because 'dad got you a surprise in the garage' is really stressing me out."

"Alright, alright." He raised a pair of car keys in his hand, and for a moment you thought he had lied and actually got another car. Or just... another vehicle in general. He pressed the button.

Happy birthday started echoing off the walls of the garage, each car horn synced with a note. The entire garage was playing an automobile orchestra of happy birthday.
