(Loki's Pov)

The city seemed unusually peaceful that night, which truly helped Loki calm his mind. He needed something grounding, and watching the skyline always seemed to do so. Outside the tower nearly always seemed peaceful, save for the few times it wasn't. Although those few times haven't happened while he had been there. At least not yet.

The first sign was the creak of floorboards behind him. He didn't dare turn yet, on the off chance they hadn't noticed him yet. Besides, if he focused he could track the visitor's silhouette in the reflection off the window, which definitely helped calm his nerves. The night-journiest ventured towards the freezer, opening it to its widest angle. Curiosity got the best of him as he turned to see who it was.

Sky. It was just Sky. At 2 am, searching through the fridge for a snack.

Not odd at all. Probably.

She wore loose clothing, her shirt collar the same way. Which is exactly what led to the glimmer of green that caught his eye, as his brows creased in confusion.

No. It couldn't be. It was impossible. Why?

But as she reached up to grab what she was looking for, the full mark was revealed. And there on her back was his name. Written in Asgardian, his first language. 'Loki'.

"Y/N?"

(Your Pov)

"Y/N?" You swung around, preparing to chuck the small tub of icecream at the intruder if necessary. It'd be a waste... but all in a good cause.

You finally realised who actually stood there, being none other than Loki. Your soulmate. Had you been paying attention, you would've easily realised you could feel his confusion through your soulbond. Except- you had thought it was your natural confusion over which ice cream flavor to pick out. Your dad always kept a huge variety in stock, and it was always such a chore to choose. And yet it was also one of your favorite things, so-

But now that you faced Loki, you couldn't help but feel a tad guilty. Not only over the matter of if he wanted ice cream- but about how your date had gone. Your soulmate was the reason Peter didn't want to date you, which was a perfectly valid reason. But sometimes you wondered what life could be like without one.

But when his single question settled, you couldn't help but sigh. His voice was the voice you heard when your soulmate talked through the connection. He knew your name. He probably saw your soulmark, signaling that he could read that language. Even now, you were drawn to him. When you looked at his eyes, everything melted away.

You sighed. You hadn't expected company. You just wanted some damn double-chocolate mint ice cream. It was from your favorite brand too.

You set the personal sized cup of ice cream on the counter, running a hand through your hair. Usually 2 am mornings did nothing on your energy level, but right now you were tired beyond belief.

"You can read it, I assume?" You ask, double checking yet again that he was truly your soulmate. Loki nodded. "I assume you want an explanation."

"Who are you, really?" He asked, not moving. It was strange to see him so tense, torn over very important matters.

"Y/N L/N is my birth name. When my mom died, I didn't want to be constantly reminded of my old life. I had everyone call me Sky, and never told anyone otherwise." He calmed at this, and you allowed yourself to move to the couch. This was going to take awhile, and you wanted ice cream and a couch to explain it. So you grabbed your cold delight and a spoon, heading over to the living room. Loki sat across from you, waiting.
