Sarah's POV:

"Mr. and Mrs. Wiliams, I am sorry to tell you that your daughter is dying. The caner is spreading through her body too quickly for us to do anything about it. I am very sorry." I listened as the doctor told my parents what was going to happen to me. Inside, I was screaming, how can this happen? I am only eighteen. ONLY EIGHTEEN!!!!!!!!!!!! I am too young for this! But there was nothing I could do. I was dying.

For a moment my mind returned to when Jareth had offered me a throne beside him. I wouldn't be dying now. I wouldn't be living in such pain now. I might have become immortal like him. I quickly shook the idea from my head. He didn't love me. He just wanted a toy to play with for a while and I was an easy mortal.

I shook my head to clear it and listened as my step-mother spoke to the doctor about where I should go. I ignored most of the conversation but got the idea that I would be more comfortable at the hospital. I really didn't care at that moment.

Toby walked over and held my hand. I squeezed it gently and he whispered,

"Sarah, what is going to happen to you?" I looked up at him and said,

"I am really sick, Toby. They don't know if I will get better. I don't want you to worry about me. I love you." I leaned forward and kissed his cheek. He looked at me and said,

"Sarah, are you going to die?" I pulled him into my lap and said,

"So the doctors believe. Don't worry about me, Toby." I held him close. He cried a little but at his age he didn't understand what his sister was talking about.  He didn't understand what death meant. He only understood that I wasn't going to be around.

I tuned into the conversation and realized that the doctor was going to get me a wheelchair and take me to the my room. I helped Toby hop off my lap and watched as a nurse and the doctor returned with a wheelchair. I set myself down in it and they took me to my new room.

It was all white and I felt a panic coming on. I couldn't stand that much white. I shivered and concentrated on my sky blue shirt and black skirt. For one moment they brought back the memory of Jareth's mismatched eyes. I climbed into the bed and settled down. I completely ignored all they were saying and soon they left to deal with the remaining things that had to be done.

Even with the pain, I was still exhausted and soon was asleep.
