Niall shifts positions so that he’s snuggled up against Liam’s chest, listening to the quickening heartbeat. Just as he becomes comfortable enough to drift off to sleep, there’s a knock at the door to their hotel room. Niall groans, but gets up and answers the door. Seven familiar faces appear in front of him, and he raises an eyebrow at their sudden appearance.
“Uh, would you lot like to come in or something?” Niall asks the group of people standing in the hallway.
“Did you really think you could be on a vacation in the Toronto area and not see us?” a redhead questions as she walks past the blonde boy.
“But you said you live 4 hours away from here,” Niall points out.
“But my parents, my boyfriend, and my best friend all live about 30 minutes from here, so I’ve been visiting home for the weekend,” Rayne rebuts. “Besides, Liam texted us in advance so that we knew where to find you.”
“Oh, well that makes sense I guess,” says the Irishman, though he still feels somewhat confused. “Liam is in the other room; I’ll get him.” Niall walks into the other room, leaving his friends to chat amongst themselves.
“Sheesh, we haven’t seen him in, what, half a year? And he walks away without giving us any hugs whatsoever? Jerk,” Rayne grumbles, though everyone around her knows that she’s kidding.
“You and your hugs,” Morgan mutters, rolling her eyes. She turns away from her best friend to look at their companions. “So, what do you want to do today?”
“Shopping!” shouts the oldest, putting on his best girly voice. He sounded beyond ridiculous, causing everyone around him to laugh until their eyes are watering. “I wasn’t kidding, guys,” he adds after they calm down.
“I know you weren’t, love,” a curly-haired boy assures his older friend. He takes the older boy’s hand in his own and squeezes it gently.
“HA! I KNEW IT!” Rayne suddenly shouts. “Larry Stylinson is real!”
“It’s been all over the media for a month or so, slowpoke,” a dark-haired boy retorts, laughing at the redhead.
“Abby, tell your boyfriend to stop being such a jerkface,” Rayne whines, turning her glare into puppy dog eyes as she turns to face the girl in question.
“He’s right though. It has been out for awhile now,” Abby replies. She sees the pretend look of hurt that her friend is giving her, so she sighs and turns to face her boyfriend. “Zayn, just because Rayne doesn’t stay in the loop like most of your fans, doesn’t mean she’s ‘slow.’”
Rayne sticks her tongue out at Zayn, making her seem even more childish. Just then, Liam and Niall come into the room, their hands linked.
“For some strange reason, I thought that 6 months in university would somehow help you to mature a bit. I see I was wrong,” Liam states, smirking at the redhead.
Rayne slips her tongue back into her mouth and frowns. “You’re all a bunch of jerkfaces,” she grumbles.
“I am not a jerkface,” Louis snaps, being entirely overdramatic as per usual.
“Fine, you can be a butthead instead,” says Rayne, sniggering at the look on Louis’ face.
“Are you still on about the fact that you didn’t get your hugs yet?” asks Morgan.
“No, now she’s upset because they’re calling her slow and childish,” another voice replies, speaking for the first time since arriving, “which is kind of ironic coming from them.”
