YOU HAD DONE THE UNTHINKABLE. You had made friends.
For some people, making friends might not seem like the greatest success. Congratulations to those who have the talent of befriending anyone they meet, but this wasn't the case for you. You never got to experience what it's like to have friends, or at least friends close to your age. It's different from family—not in a bad way. For a long time, you considered your family as your friends. That's not bad either. However, the whole main idea of a friend sort of "includes" that the person you befriend is not directly related to you, you know? Otherwise, it kinda feels like cheating.
Toshinori, Gran Torino, and perhaps the UA staff (who knew about (t/n)—*evil laughter*) could be considered "friends". However, honestly, Toshinori and Gran Torino were like your tutors (like family). You loved those two from the bottom of your heart and were eternally thankful to them. The UA staff were more like "very nice people whom you are also eternally thankful to"; they took care of you to some extent. They couldn't completely fit into the "friend" category.
Besides, they were all adults. Not that you can't be friends with adults, but—again, being friends with someone your age was different.
Someone you can be stupid with and not feel stupid because they were stupid too.
Ever since your inspiring and emotional talk with All Might, you began trying to live. Live as any other 16-year-old kid should. Of course, all 16-year-old kids are training to be heroes in a super-duper prestigious hero high school. Yep, totally normal.
Still, you tried.
And as time went by, suddenly teenagers didn't seem that scary anymore.
