"Do I look alright?" Taylor asked Joe, spinning around in her outfit that consisted of dark red pants and a long sleeve black shirt she had tucked into the pants. Her boots went just above her ankles, and her hair was left down in the casual waves she so often wore it in, because Joe loved it like that.
"Love, you always look wonderful," Joe replied, smiling at his girlfriend of six months. "Don't overthink."
Taylor sighed, carefully tucking hair behind her ear and glancing down at her outfit. "I just want to make a good first impression," she confessed.
"They'll love you, I promise," Joe reassured her, reaching out and gently taking the hand that was dangling at Taylor's side.
"But what if they've read all the stuff about me in the magazines and online?"
"Darling, I told you, they don't look at that stuff. They might know your name, but I doubt they'll even recognize you," Joe said, squeezing Taylor's hand three times.
Taylor lifted her gaze from the floor to stare into Joe's gorgeous blue eyes. "I love you, too," she replied softly.
"Come on, let's go," said Joe, offering a small but loving smile to Taylor.
The car ride to Joe's family home was quieter than most of Taylor and Joe's normal car rides, because Taylor was too nervous to hold a conversation. Instead, she bounced her leg up and down and resisted the urge to bite her nails that she had painted just for the occasion to match her outift.
Once they had finally made it to the Alwyn house, Taylor felt as if she might throw up from nerves, and as Joe knocked on the door, Taylor was calculating where she would turn when she undoubtedly did throw up.
The door was opened by a kind looking woman that appeared on the older side of middle aged, and Taylor assumed she was Joe's mom.
"Joe!" the woman said, hugging her middle son. "And you must be Taylor," she smiled as she pulled away from her son, looking at his girlfriend, who nodded, swallowing nervously. "I'm Elizabeth, his mom."
"It's lovely to meet you. I've heard so many good thing about you," Taylor replied, smiling. Elizabeth reached for a hug, and Taylor happily obliged.
"And you! Joe has just been raving about you, it was about time he brought you home," Elizabeth said, smiling kindly as her son's cheeks reddened. "Come in, dinner is just about ready."
She led Taylor and Joe into the house, stopping when they were in a sort of middle ground, where Taylor could see the living room, kitchen, dining room, and stairway from.
"Richard! Patrick! Joe and his girlfriend are here!" Elizabeth called to the house.
A man who appeared to be the same age as Elizabeth walked out of the kitchen, wiping his hands on the apron around his waist.
"Joe, buddy. Good to see you," the man who Taylor assumed was Richard said, giving his son a quick hug. He then turned to Taylor and smiled.
"Hi, I'm Taylor. I'm guessing you're Joe's dad?" Taylor said, a polite smile on her face,
"Taylor! Wonderful to meet you, dear," Richard said, also hugging Taylor. "Thank you for making our son so happy."
"My pleasure," Taylor responded, and then looked to Joe and grinned.
