"There's someone else, isn't there?" He asked, rhetorically. He was rather astonished that out of every girl he met, Lily Evans would be the one to go behind his back.
"If there is, that's none of your business. I wouldn't let anything happen before we broke up." The redhead countered, sucking in a deep breath. Was it really that obvious? The two had begun walking, heading towards the courtyard.
"I thought you were different." Jack spoke with a hint of distaste running through his tone. They had begun to attract the attention of surrounding students.
"Don't you dare turn this on me!" The girl combatted, every inch of her being was raging. She turned back to him as she stood in the archway of the entrance, pointing an excusing finger at him.
"Or what?" He mocked, taking a step closer. "Can't handle the truth? That you're just like every other girl in this fucking school." They circled each other like they were preparing to fight. His back was now facing the door as someone slipped through them.
"If you hate girls so much, date a man." The girl clapped back, earning a scoff from him.
"What do you think I am? Fucking Queer." He spat in disgust, rendering the courtyard silent. To say that Lily was shocked was an understatement. Her mouth hung open, not expecting that to leave his lips. And he seemed confident in that response too until somebody stepped forward and his face visibly faltered.
"And what would the problem with that be?" A familiar voice asked from behind them, walking round to join Lily's side. Remus. The other boy couldn't even meet his eye.
"I didn't mean it in a bad way. I was just saying." Jack's voice was barely audible to the pair, never mind the rest of the courtyard hearing them.
"Ah, yeah. What other way did you fucking mean it then?" He challenged, tilting his head condescendingly at the boy. Eleanor hadn't given him any Salutem Exhausit and the moon was three days away. Without it, his symptoms of the moon came much harshly and his anger easily got out of hand again.
"Remus." Lily grabbed him lightly, more worried about his outburst of anger than all her own over the past week or so.
"Nah, let's hear him out." Sure, it was appalling what the boy had said but this was personal. The redhead had snapped out of her streak of anger as worry replenished her thoughts. Looking around urgently, she clung onto Remus to keep him back as she looked around for someone to help.
"I told you." Jack snapped back, glaring up at the boy. "I didn't mean it like that." He said through gritted teeth. Her eyes landed on James and waved him over. Remus was struggling against her grip as he didn't want to hurt her.
"Remus, mate. It's not worth it." James grasped onto his shoulder along with Mary who offered him a knowing smile. They had talked about this, his feelings and whatnot. Mary just understood, like Eleanor.
"Let's go." Mary whispered and he nodded, not daring to look at the boy opposite him. If he did then he may punch him or something much worse. "This isn't over." The girl told Jack, a sneer on her lips before she followed after the other Gryffindor's.
"Fuck." Remus muttered, hitting his wardrobe before taking a seat on the edge of his bed, hands engulfed in his hair.
"What happened there then?" James asked, a frown of concern pulled onto his face as he looked from Lily to Remus.
"Shut up, Potter." Lily snapped, pacing up and down the room. Clearly, her anger was brewing inside her once more.
"What have I done?" He asked, even more confused than he was before. She was now treating him like she did at the beginning of the school year. The boy believed that they were past this.
