Chapter 4. A Clean Slate

'secret crushes?' errr... you apparently

Draco took a second to take in all of Harry's questions. He finished chewing on his pasty while trying to come up with answers. "Wow" he swallowed "I guess your right, I mean, the Daily Prophet hasn't exactly been discreet when it comes to your life" they both smiled agreeing

"Favourite memory? Not sure really, my upbringing wasn't exactly one full of laughs. I've always enjoyed Quidditch I suppose, and I guess the Yule Ball was a lot of fun too."

Harry cringed thinking back to how terrible his Yule Ball experience was

"Most embarrassing? Oh let me think!"

"Ferret, by any chance?" Harry teased

"Yes, you arse"

"Oi! That wasn't even me! It was Moody!"

"I got called 'Ferret Face' for the rest of the year thanks to him! People kept asking me if I enjoyed my time in Crabbe's pants" Draco said unamused, Harry almost choked on his food, howling with laughter

"Oh shut up" Draco smiled, shoving his arm and shaking his head

"Secret crushes?" Harry smirked, biting into a second wedge of cake

Draco felt his cheeks begin to blush and his throat tightened, trying to conceal his awkwardness he pretended to be searching for what to eat next, avoiding Harry's eyes

"Erm... nope. No crushes"

Draco didn't care how close they were getting, he was not ready to tell him that the majority of his crushes growing up had been boys

"No one at all?" Harry cocked his head to the side, being deliberately nosey. His friends knew every little detail of his life, and no thanks to Rita Skeeter for kindly dishing Harry's personal and love life in the papers (only half of which was even accurate) so did everyone else. If Draco was going to become his friend, he at least needed to even the playing field a little.

"Nope, no one. I dated Pansy for about 4 months a few years ago, but nothing ever really happened. We thought that was the direction we were going but the excitement fizzled out and we both realised we're much better as friends. There's been one or two others here and there but nothing special. So to answer your question, my dating history has been rather uneventful" Draco explained

Harry nodded while wiping his fingers on a napkin and sitting back on his palms

"I suppose being 'The Chosen One' makes dating easy for you" Draco asked, raising an eyebrow

"You would think!" he chuckled "Not really. I had a brief fling with Cho Chang but she was conflicted about Cedric and was dealing with a lot at the time so that ended. I was with Ginny Weasley for quite a while, but I suppose like you with Pansy, something felt off. Ginny was almost like family to me so it didn't feel right, plus she also definitely still had a thing for Dean Thomas, so we went our separate ways. We're still great friends though and there's no hard feelings, it didn't feel right to me anyway"

Draco wiped his mouth on a napkin and looked at Harry confused "So you're telling me that Harry Potter, the boy who fought the darkest wizard of our time, a war hero, The Chosen One, doesn't have a girlfriend? How is that possible?" he laughed

"Madness isn't it!" Harry joked "No, I'm kidding, but it would be nice to have something with someone. I've been the third wheel to Ron and Hermione since forever. But i guess the right person will come along when it's the right time"

"Well, I know a few girls who obviously adore you, Harry. I could set you up!"

Draco wasn't entirely sure why he was trying to find Harry a date but something was telling him to make sure he didn't find out about his recent feelings. He could push Harry in the other direction and move past this awkward crush without him ever finding out
