Why?

His hands clenched his bag as he walked out of the school building and in to the streets. He felt so many emotions it was hard to identify which was which.

This was his chance. His only chance to go to the hero course. And Shinso fucked it up.

He sighed trying to control this anger that was burning inside of him. The disappointment he felt for himself.

It was ok that he lost this time. He can still get to the hero course in the future... right?

Shinso blended in with the many people walking around, carrying out their normal lives. Some of them were staring at the big billboards on the buildings, the main news being the sports festival that ended not too long ago.

He heard murmurs as they talked about all the students that competed. Specifically class 1-A.

He could hear the squeals of little kids as they picked their favourite battles and competitors. He could see the excitement in the eyes of teens as the scenes from the festival kept replaying.

Hell, the whole population of Mustafa seemed to be talking about some aspect of the topic.

"Hey is that the brainwasher kid from the festival?" Shinso heard someone whisper as he quickly covered his signature gravity defying lavender hair with his hoodie and fastened his pace, desperate to get away.

He didn't want to hear people talk about him. Not when he was this weak. Not when he lost.

He took a right turn and continued walking until he was far away from the bustling streets and the crowded people.

Shinso was well familiar with this neighborhood, remembering countless days where he would take shelter in the benches on the streets when he'll be occasionally thrown out of his house. It wasn't particularly popular and considering how a police station was nearby, crime rates weren't high.

It was safer then the alleyways he would usually seek refuge in anyways.

Hearing his stomach grumble, Shinso slowed his pace. Not a surprise. The only thing he consumed today was an apple and 2 cups of coffee.

He walked in to a small café, deciding to order a cup of coffee to energize himself. Shinso was tired after the long day and he wanted some peace and quiet before he goes back to his foster house.

He approached the counter, ordering a simple black coffee and sat on one of the tables, oblivious to the group that sat behind him.

He was just so tired, the sleepless nights were catching on to him and today in general was just a headache that exhausted him way more then he would like to admit.

Overall he didn't mind the idea of curling up in a ball and sleeping for an eternity.

He rested his head on the table, using his arms as a pillow after settling down on the sofa like chair. Maybe he can close his eyes for a few minutes, and be lucky enough to get some sleep.

He relaxed, almost drifting in to sleep when a loud obnoxious voice woke him up. "Shinso! I didn't know you were a café person." He lazily opened his eyes and looked at the annoying creature who decided to interrupt his sleep.

Denki Kaminari. Shinso faintly remember seeing him in the sports festival.

Shinso sat up straight and stared at the blonde as he flashed a wide grin. Shinso glanced to his side, finally noticing the other 3 students.

Shinso's eyes darkened as he recognized one of the students, Katsuki Bakugo, as the winner of the sports festival. The title he wanted to have. The title he promised himself he definitely would have.

His attention came back to the loud blonde, who was seemingly still waiting for a response from Shinso.

Who in the right mind will talk to him after knowing what he can do?

"You don't know anything about me." Shinso says monotone as he lifted his head back up, straightening his tired shoulders. He didn't have time to have friends. He needed to train more, improve his fighting skills as mind control alone wouldn't help him win a fight as proven today.

"Awww why so mean? You might even rival Kacchan-" "WHAT DID YOU CALL ME YOU DAMN EXTRA?!" Bakugo's loud yelling over Kaminari caused Shinso to involuntarily wince. It reminded him too much about the screaming that he was trying to avoid.

Gosh with these people around his headache will only grow worse.

A ridiculously gelled red haired boy put a hand over Bakugo, preventing him from committing murder while Kaminari sat down beside Shinso, completely ignoring the loud yelling behind him.

"So whatcha order? I heard the hamburger here was really tasty so I bought Kirishima, Kacchan and Sero with me to find out." Kaminari said happily starting a one sided conversation.

Shinso really wanted to use his quirk to make the guy shut up for just 2 seconds.

He opted silence, hoping it would signal the blonde to give him some breathing space and quit the useless talk.

A waiter came in with a cup of coffee and Shinso gladly took a long sip, savoring the bitter taste as caffeine energized his tired body and burnt his throat. "Are you just gonna drink a cup of coffee?" Sero asked, raising an eyebrow.

Shinso nodded not bothering to turn around to face him. Who needs food when you got caffeine?

"It smells weird. Is there any sugar in that thing? You look like an old man drinking coffee like that." Kaminari said as he scrunched his nose. "You talk too much dunce face." A more quite then usual Bakugo grumbled looking annoyed.

Sero playfully shoved Bakugo. "You love it though," Bakugo just scoffed at his comment and looked away as the others laughed.

Shinso pulled his handed-down phone out, trying to check the time. He didn't want to be late and be punished.

Either the old thing finally broke or the charge was out. Shinso decided it was the latter and grumbled about forgetting to charge it at school and put the phone down on the table. He sipped the last bit of coffee and closed his eyes.

He should head to his house now. The sun was setting and this foster dad was one of the most rigorous one yet.

"Oh your phone's dead?" Kaminari's voice interrupted his thoughts. Shinso placed the empty cup of coffee down and nodded, noticing Kaminari holding his phone and trying to open it.

Shinso tried to snatch his phone back but Kaminari moved the phone away from him. "Hey Sero, can you pass me that charger you have?" He asked, smiling and looking behind him, completely disregarding an annoyed Shinso.

Sero gave a charger and continued annoying a pissed time bomb with the stupidest questions, he could muster as Kirishima continued to work on damage control.

"What are you doing?" Shinso asked, his voice sluggish as he stared at Kaminari plug the charger in his phone. "I am gonna do a magic trick." Kaminari replied flashing a wide grin at Shinso.

"How delightful." Shinso commented, sarcastically rolling his eyes as Kaminari placed the end of the charger in his mouth. Shinso watched as the boy bit the charger for a few minutes. He looked like he was swallowing a drink with a straw. He returned the phone back not too long later, flashing another wide grin.

Shinso was confused at what the blonde did. Did he eat electricity or something?

The bright light of his phone flashed as it opened. Shinso remembers what Kaminari's quirk was now. Electricity. He must of somehow converted some electricity in to his phone and charged it.

The scowl he was wearing soften as he noticed the charge was full percent now. At least he wouldn't have to steal his foster brother's charger for the night.

"Thanks." Shinso said scrolling through his notifications, mostly just the news. He didn't have to look to know the electrical blonde was smiling brightly.

"No problem!" Kaminari said enthusiastically as he practically bounced in his seat.

He was one weird kid.

Shinso was surprised as he received a notification from a familiar number.

'You can't even win without others help'
