I like Matt. He's nice. We went to get a milkshake together and it was great, I had fun. He doesn't talk much though, he just always wants to get to know me, ask me questions. I mean don't get me wrong it's nice he's taking an interest but I want to get to know him too.

"You wanna get a milkshake with me? I know this great place." He looks at me eagerly and it's hard to refuse.

"My mum will wonder where I am..." Lame excuse I know, but I wasn't in the mood for company.

"Please? You'll have fun, I promise." He seems to smirk to himself but I can't be sure.

"I'll not be great company right now." He shakes his head.

"So? I don't care. If you want we can talk about it on the way there." He tugs on my arm and I follow him, I mean why shouldn't I? I get out my phone and text mum, if I don't come back home at the same time everyday she thinks I'm up to something, which isn't always true.

We walk along the street, one that I don't recognise. I go along with Matt anyway, but I think he can sense that I'm uncomfortable. "Loosen up girl, we're almost there." He gives me a playful push and I can't help but smile. "So why exactly would you be such terrible company? You're not that bad, so far." He winks at me and I feel my cheeks redden.

"I don't know I'm just not in a good mood, that's all." Lying to Matt is harder than it seems, he has this intimidating aura about him, nothing I would've expected from the shy boy I first seen outside the Chemistry  lab. He laughs and shakes his head. "Fine, don't tell me... You're a terrible liar, you know." I'm about to protest, but decide otherwise. I just cross my arms across my chest and look away from him. I'm starting to regret coming with him. "Talk about bad mood." He rolls his eyes and opens the door to a tiny little coffee shop and leads me to the back booth. "You're order?" He looks up at me expectantly.

"Milkshake. Strawberry." He grins and walks up to the counter. I take out my phone and start scrolling through Instagram. He comes back minutes later, scaring me as he sits down. "Gosh, you scared me."

"Oh I'm sorry." He sets down my milkshake and looks at me. I nervously start typing on my phone. I'm half way through the message when my phone disappears from my hands. "Hey! What are you doing? Give it back!" I reach over Matt and try to get my phone out of his hand, but he keeps reaching it further away from me. "Give it!" He puts his hand on my stomach and gently pushes me back. I protest at first and push against him but eventually I give in. "Please? Please can I have it back?" He sets my phone at the opposite end of the table.

"No."

"Why not?" Is he serious?

"I want to get to know you Zoey, and I can't do that if you have your nose stuck in your phone the whole time." I start to feel bad, I was being so rude.

"I'm sorry, that was rude of me."

"It's ok. Don't worry about it. You just have to learn to forget about distractions."
