"Right on time. You have to come fifteen minutes earlier to set everything up!" she sighs as she points at the paper. "Log in your time and then you can escort these students to the class."
"Okay," she says, settling her bag on the floor. My eye catches a glimpse of the lady's bag: Rider's University. I can tell by the lady's voice that this isn't the first time April's been late, but it still doesn't give her any right to lash out on April like that.
I'm sure she has a valid excuse―I mean, she's a college student for God's sake!
April quickly writes down her time and picks up her bag before looking at us. "C'mon," she says, motioning for us to follow her.
I wait for someone to make a move which, in this case, is Gum Girl who stands up from her chair and walks through the door, which April is holding. I follow in pursuit, but a brown-haired girl beats me to it.
I guess everyone is waiting for someone to make a move because as soon as Gum Girl gets up, everyone gets up from their seat. As a result, I end up becoming the fifth in the "so-called" line (it's not really a line, more like a group of people trying to make their way through the door). By the time I make it to the door, I realize April's already left and a blonde-haired girl is holding the door. She smiles at me and I immediately dart through the door.
So much for making a good impression, huh, Mom?
In my defense, I didn't have enough time to react. I mean, it's not like I expected that girl to smile. If I did then I'd definitely reacted differently... maybe.
I follow the boy in front of me until we make it to the classroom door. I see April fiddling with her bag until she gets out what seems like a key (probably to unlock the classroom door).
"Okay, guys," she says as she opens the classroom door, "since I came late, you're going to have to take a chair from the corner of the classroom and set it up." She turns the light switch on to emit light in the classroom. "Oh! I almost forgot. Please set up a circle using your chair," she settles her bag down on a chair. "Because that's what they want you to do," she mumbles.
I don't think she meant for anyone to hear that and by the looks of it, I think to myself as I gaze around the classroom, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who heard her say that.
But it's not like it's a bad thing that I heard her.
In fact, I'm pleasantly surprised. I've never seen (or even heard for that matter) a teacher oppress her own school system. Okay, well, in this case, it isn't a school, but just think of it as one. Actually, come to think of it, isn't this a school since they're educating people. I don't know if that's a question or not, but I seriously need to search up what school means (like I will).
I grab a chair and arrange the chair between two girls, but just to be sure, I space myself more from them because I like to be alone and also because I have a fear that they'll judge me for my farts (and it's not like I can't stop farting). Fortunately, my farts are silent, but they aren't odorless... unfortunately.
"Um, honey, can you move closer..." April's voice drains as I look up. Is she talking to me? I look around and notice a couple of people staring at me.
Yup, she's definitely talking to me.
"Sorry to interrupt," the lady from the main office says, looking at all of us before looking at April. "I forgot to give you this," the lady says, attempting to whisper (but, if I'm being honest, she's not even trying) as she gives April a piece of paper. April wrinkles her eyebrows as she takes the paper.
"What is it?" she asks as she reads whatever's on the paper.
"The learning schedule," the lady says. April finishes reading the paper and looks at the lady.
