'No, not today" I cry as I hear a man groaning as I head to visit Sookie at work but then I hear the man cry in pain again 

"Oh, gosh dang it." I say running over to a bush where I see a handsome looking man breathing heavily 

"You okay?" I ask and he shakes his head 

"No." he responds 

"You need me to call you an ambulance? Do you know what happened to you?" I ask and he groans his response 

Listen the voices whisper and I sigh 

Smelled my blood, my damned blood. the mans voice comes through 

"A vampire attacked me." he responds and I nod 

what are you? I ask to see if the man can hear me 

I'm a halfling Fairy he responds 

halfling angel I reply back but then he groans in pain again 

"Okay, you need a hospital." I cry 

"No, hospitals don't know what to do with faeries." he says and I sigh as I realise what I'm going to have to do  "You know, you didn't have to do this." he says as I drag him into my house and flop him onto the couch as he groans 

"Did you get a look at the vampire who attacked you?" I ask as I go to get him some water 

"No, it all happened so fast." he whispers 

"How did you get away?" I ask curious 

"I, uh-- I blasted him." he says before he groans again 

"Well, just lie here and I'll go get some warm water and bandages." I say and I hear him chuckle behind me 

"What?" I ask quickly and he sighs smiling  

"Nothin'. It's just... you remind me of someone." he says and I laugh finding the fae entertaining 

"Who?" I ask smiling 

"My first love in high school. You seem nicer, though." he says and I shake my head 

"You probably banged your head along with your other injuries." i whisper 

"Yeah, she couldn't take a compliment, either." he says and I blush and when I turn to look at him again I see him drifting off into sleep 

"Hey, wait a second. You're not gonna fall asleep on me, are you? I'm already late to see Sookie" I cry as I go to nudge him and I shake my head 

"Fuck" I cry getting up to go get him the bandages again when I return with cloth and water I watch as his eyes flutter open and I smile 

"Wasn't long ago I... wanted to get rid of my powers" I say and he shakes his head 

"Why would you do that?" he asks and I sigh 

"I'm sick of being different. Sick of all the pain." i whisper and he gets up into a seated position 

"Yeah. You know, uh... sometimes it don't matter how hard you try to do the right thing, it just turns out wrong. I know we only just met, but, uh... I can tell you're a good person." he says and I smile 

"Doesn't seem to matter much. More of a liability these days." I say and I feel him move closer to me before I think he's going to kiss me and I move back a little before he jumps up 

"Well, I did not mean to impose on you like this." he says and I watch as he moves towards the door groaning 

"Are you sure you're okay to move?" I ask following him 

"You have been very kind." he says smiling 

"Wait. I don't know your name." I say stopping him 

"Ben. You?" he asks 

"Meghan. You know where you're headed?" I ask and he smiles 

"Wherever the road takes me." he replies and I sigh 

"The road didn't really cooperate last time." I say and he chuckles 

"Yeah, I'll be all right. You know... it's been a long time since anybody's shown me even an ounce of human kindness. Makes the big, bad world seem a little less lonely. Good-bye, Meghan" he whispers as he walks out the door and I sigh before following him so that I could walk him somewhere safe
