Nightmare On Elm Street was based on a true event. A boy died in his sleep. He complained to his parents about the nightmares he was having about a man who tried to kill him. They over looked it and didn't realize how serious it was. The boy would stay up for days avoiding sleep. When his parents found him dead in his bed they discovered 3 slashes on his stomach.
