My eyes saw while I wandered
Two figures walking by
And strangers as they were
They lingered in my mind
One dressed In clothes of pink and red
And jewelry that glittered gold
With lipstick of a Scarlet hue
And shoes both bright and bold
But her expression was as paper
Blank and barely white
Her eyes were brimmed with glitter but
They held so little life
The other dressed in Raven black
From her head to her toes
A frightening sight in monochrome
Like a picture from decades ago
So shrouded in her mantle, and yet
As she strode on forth
Her eyes gave such a lively sense of gentleness and warmth
In my stupor and confusion
All together muddled
I stood and gawked quite rudely
Being speechless and befuddled
Thinking of my own reflection
I pondered through the day
If I seemed colorful at all
And if so, in which way?
So much time and effort spent
to go the extra mile,
For what it's worth, I'd rather wear
My colors in my smile.
