tw: this book will contain heavy drug use.

Eli and Alaska had been the closest of friends. They both were out cast, both had nothing going for them aside from being picked on or made for being shoved into lockers. It's why they stuck together so much, he said nothing while she took comfort in his silence.

Alaska's parents never weren't arguing, they hated each other but thought they were doing the right thing by staying together for her sake. Truth was, all she ever wanted was for them to split so for once she didn't have the constant dread of a headache when she went home every day. They never listened to her though, they never understood or stopped to think how their yelling would hurt her worse then the split would.

After a Friday evening of her getting mugged on the walk home from school, Alaska takes up the karate classes Miguel had insisted they'd join, nearly forcing her best friend to come along with her. Soon after, Alaska begins to regret asking Eli to join when everything about him suddenly changes and he's no where near the person she once knew and cherished. With their friendship on the line already, she gets involved with one of her dads dealers, getting addicted along the way and becoming a horrible version of herself.

The pair who were once sweet and innocent teens, now turned into a horrible pair who couldn't even recognize each other.

disclaimer: this book is in no way romanticizing drug use at all, more so showing the reality of it and why it does NOT need to be romanticized
