It happened when we were eleven and he was still the real Chase I'd known to be my weird twin. Our parents weren't home, it was just me, Chase and some workers, and as usual Chase wasn't playing with me, so I was left to play all by myself. I sat outside the balcony playing tea party with my Dolls when I looked up to my left and saw Chase. He wasn't doing anything fascinating, he just bent on his knees looking at Jack, our Rottweiler puppy as it laid in his doghouse, I couldn't help but wonder what he was doing there, because he was doing absolutely nothing, but just staring at the puppy with an impassive expression.

He remained like that for some minutes, then he stood. He stood from where he bent and went over to meet Jack, he brought it out of his house, led it to the garden then he left it there and walked towards me. I thought he was coming to meet me, but then he just passed by me and went into the house and I started to wonder why he'd brought the dog out of it house if he knew he wouldn't be playing with it and he'd be entering back into the house soon, but then he came out of the house and went back to the garden.

He carried Jack in his arms as he sat on the grass, then he removed Jack's collar and placed it on the floor. He used his hands to massage Jack's fur for sometime while I couldn't help but watch because Chase rarely played with Jack, in fact he never played with the dog but he was, on that particular day, so I was surprised. He kept on massaging Jack's fur, then he brought out something from his pocket. At first I couldn't get a proper view of what he held but then I saw it, I saw what he was holding. It was a knife.

What can he want to use it for?; I'd asked myself, curious to know what he wanted to use the knife for, then he shocked me with what he did next.

He. . . He had slit Jack's throat.

I stood up immediately not caring about the mug which collided with a great impact on the floor, due to the way I'd stood up quickly. I was shocked with my mouth widely opened as I watched what was before me. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, I didn't want to believe it was true, but then I saw it live, Chase didn't seem to mind what he was doing as the puppy wimps could be heard and the next thing I heard was a loud brain-piercing shriek.

That loud shriek came from me.

Chase didn't flinch, even with the way I kept on shouting, he just kept inflicting injuries on the poor puppy as it laid on the grass in a pool of its own blood, obviously the dog had already died but Chase didn't stop his assault as he kept using the knife to stab the already dead dog, the scene was so traumatizing, but I couldn't move from where I was, the only thing I did was to shout and soon the workers started trooping out from the house and the next thing I heard someone shout was "Blood Of Jesus!"

Honestly, I wouldn't blame the person for shouting to that extent, because the scene was just too obscene and blood filled. I remembered Adam, one of the many guards quickly rushed over to the garden along with one other guard - whose name I can't remember. He quickly carried Chase from the scene, removing the knife from his hand carefully while the other guy carried the dead dog.

Adam carried Chase past me and I can never forget the huge smile that was plastered on Chase's face as he was carried past me, and I was shocked at that smile on his face because Chase occasionally smiled at me. He even stuck out his tongue at me and waved his bloody hands at me.

Everything that had happened then, my younger self couldn't comprehend, I couldn't understand while Chase had killed Jack.

It was all surreal.

"It's okay dear," My nanny, nanny best had told me as she pulled me into a hug. "Stop crying my dear."

I didn't even know that I was crying until she had said those words.

I remember nothing much had happened that day - after that bloody incident, my parents didn't react too much when they were told about what Chase had done, or maybe they reacted and I didn't know about it.

Anyways ever since that incident I started to see Chase differently, though I couldn't hate him, I still loved him. Still, my younger self always tried to avoid him In anyway possible because he had really scared me that day and the fact that he didn't look fazed scared me the most, he even carried on with being the good ol weird Chase I'd known.

A Chase with a odd behavior.

A Chase who wouldn't smile back at you.

A Chase with a gaze that could send one creeps.

A Chase with the aura of a killer.

That was how I'd summarized my twin to be in four sentences, just like right now his gaze was on me, already.

Chase's gaze was on me.

While others were engrossed and lost in their laughter he was looking at me with that gaze which sent creeps through my head. His stare was so intense that he looked like he was searching through me, like he could see my soul, like he wanted to know what was going on in my mind, but who was I even kidding? No one could ever know Chase's mind, so I couldn't even guess what he could be thinking about. Perhaps he was thinking about killing me like he'd killed Jack; Sorry, I couldn't help but think like that. Though I had to admit that he had a different type of energy, since I'd seen him today, because he was over-jumpy when I'd seen him enter into the parlor alongside Feyi and Chioma, he was all smiles and happy, which was so unusual. That's why I'd said no one could ever know Chase's mind.

My brother was just so weird and eccentric, anyone who was trying to study him could possibly go mad trying to.

He didn't waver.

His gaze was still fixated on me then he grinned widely, but I could bet a million dollars that his grin was not sincere. It looked like it was forced, like those grins joker usually had on his face anytime he looked at the mirror. Yes, it was really creepy and I had to remove my own gaze from him and look everywhere, apart from Chase place of course.

"I've always wanted to ask," I turned to Rayo, her face beaming widely while everywhere was now quiet, no one was laughing anymore. "Who's older between you and Chase?"

"Yes, who's Taiye?" Feyi chipped in almost immediately, and I didn't miss the enthusiasm laced with her voice as she asked, more like she'd forgotten that she wasn't meant to be talking with me since according to her I act like the 'Royal queen of England', but in all honesty I didn't have any problem with Feyi. I just tried to treat her the same way she treated me. Yes, I had a little bit of pettiness in me. "Hey, I wasn't asking you ooo, I directed that question to Chase, so don't get any wrong ideas."

I just smiled and shook my head as I heard what Feyi had said again, but I ignored everything she'd said and answered the question, because I knew surely Chase wouldn't answer. . . well, the Chase I knew wouldn't answer.

"Chase is older, with five minutes."

"Wow! the time gap is quite much," Rayo noted and I just nodded. "Chase's birthday is also February eight. . ."

"No, we don't share the same birthday date. I am February eight while Chase is February seven, evening to midnight birth that's why." I explained and no one said anything as it looked like they all were trying to digest the information that I'd passed to them.

"Who's up for some pizza?"

Rayo asked and Chioma was quick to respond to her with a; "Me!" and soon everyone agreed and Rayo ordered the pizza then we all proceeded to move into the house.

I couldn't stop thinking as we entered the house. Happy thoughts. They filled my mind. I was happy that I was finally moving on, happy that I had settled my issues with Lily, happy that my brother was with me - though he still freaked me out a little.

I was just happy. . . still, a part of me felt like that wasn't the. . . Like it wasn't the end.
