"Dad ur ramblin." Sans pointed out sapping Gaster out of his as he was quietly muttering and getting off track.
"Er, right sorry about that. A good example to help explain the time difference would Hazel and Alex. They need a period of 8 months since their races always have eggs. After those 8 months they have the egg, and over the course of a month, the monster inside of the egg will break free of its shell and finally be considered born. Any monster that has flesh needs to at leave carry their children up to 9 months, for their kids to have a higher chance of being healthy. While us skeletons need much less time to carry a child to full term."
Nightmare thought about it for a moment. "How long does it take for a skeleton to have a kid?" He tilted his head slightly out of curiosity.
"Well it depends on the amount of magic that the skeleton and partner have. Since the one that carries the baby will be feeding the souling magic, so the baby will grow. Sometimes the partners of the carrying skeleton can help feed the growing souling. Now where ah there it is,"
Gaster smiled as he pulled a box out of the closet. He walked back to the bed and took a seat. Placing the box down and opening it up. Looking through it to find what he was looking for before pulling out a different photo album.
Opening the cover of the album, the very first photo showed Rouge Script. She was standing alone. Smiling happily as she held her tank top up to show her abdomen. Magic had formed around the area between the ribs and pelvis. Making it look like she had a purple belly. Within that purple magic a small white upside down heart floated there.
"IS THAT SANS?" Papyrus questioned in aw as he climbed onto Dream's lap and stared at the photo. He smiled as he placed a hand on the image and giggled a little in excitement.
"Why yes that would be your brothers soul. I told this picture the day me and Rouge found out she was having Sans." Gaster softly chuckled and smiled at Sans.
Sans smiled happily as he looked at the photo. He placed a hand on the image and chuckled a little. "My soul was so small." Gaster nodded a little.
"A skeleton that carries will normally form this thing called an ecto-belly. It is used to carry the souling. A skeleton can be pregnant with the span of 2 to 4 months. On the rare occasion that time can be longer if the mother is unable to give a significant amount of magic to the souling. Or if the mother is sick and is unable to feed the growing soul. While the souling grows tiny little bones will start to form around the soul itself. First creating the ribcage, then spin, head, arms, legs, and everything else. Since skeletons only need to form bones our kind has a much shorter pregnancy time."
Dream thought for a moment and stared at the image. "Is this story about how happy Rouge was when she had Sans?" He smiled happily as he looked at the image of Rouge. She was smiling so happily. A hand on her stomach proudly showing off the tiny soul.
"Er, well you see... We do not know what happened but... for one reason or another Rouge was not able to carry Sans to full term... she visited me in the C.O.R.E that day. Wanting to ask me to see what was wrong. Rouge could tell something was wrong. At the time Sans' soul had been formed for two weeks. He was nothing but a soul with a few barely formed bones that made up his rib cage."
Gaster frowned as he thought back on that day. Remembering what happened well.
"As the two of us were talking trying to figure out what happened. The magic in her abdomen had just in a sense burst. Just giving up on us. Sans' soul was floating there slowly starting to crack. In my panic I grabbed the souling and took him to my lap. What I did was out of desperation. I placed him in a small tank of MD solution and just started to work on getting the tiny souling stable."
