My prayers however went unanswered, because as soon as I took my place at the cash register a familiar blonde walked through the door. Dammit...
His face lit up a little as soon as he saw me, once he got to the register he tried to strike up a conversation "Sorry about what happened at the Mega-Burger." the blonde said, the look in his eyes told me everything "It's alright, I'm not good with people, I was just..." I pause for a second "overwhelmed." I lied through my teeth. I couldn't find the words to tell him why I actually ran out of the Mega-Burger that dreaded night "Oh, I'm sorry dudette" Alfred said an unfamiliar sadness invaded his tone, and my heart softened a little, he sounded so genuine maybe I could forgive him after all.
"Hey... do you wanna talk after my shift? I get off of work around 5:00. " I ask, honestly wanting a second shot at getting close to Alfred, "HELL YEAH!" Alfred yells, any trace of sadness disappearing from his face being replaced with a wide smile, god, he is such a dork. My chest felt warm as a small smile crept onto my face as I make his usual mocha, but something stuck in the back of my mind as my workday went on, who was at my window? did they try to break in? what were they planning to do? I tried to push these thoughts away, but every time I tried to they came back stronger
