Angry Pining would be a good alternative title, also: lots of angry pining, Enemies to friends to lovers, Aaron Burr with round glasses is cute-

Warnings: TONS of cursing, angst, friendless sad broken baby cinnamon roll Aaron Burr,  mean Alexander, very mean, mentions of abuse but no description because that takes up a ton of words.

Aaron is competitive.

He's silent and reserved, and that's the reason why he's not popular at all. In fact, everyone thinks he's a self stuck up nerd that only works for no reason. They call him weird for having reading and writing a hobby...for having no friends to hang out with. Sure he'd get bullied, sure he hates the life with his abusive uncle, and sure it'd hurt to see even his competition/crush/enemy/not-a-friend-at-all-but-I-love-him have friends too.

Damn Alexander Hamilton.

Damn his gorgeous blue and violet eyes, his perfect and sharp jawline, his silky auburn hair that dances at his frames and is so goddamn itchy to at least push it back to his ear. Fuck his laugh, the melodically symphony he always melts at and distracts Aaron every time he's in class. And FUCK everything he has. A perfect home, adopted by loving parents Martha and George Washington, who would always opt for him. He has someone to trust and talk to--a brother--Lafayette, and he has everything to be happy for. It's so fucking easy for him isn't it?

It's so easy to be the golden boy everyone just loves so damn much. It's so easy to get people to fall in love with him. He's smart and conniving and resourceful...and he even sounds understanding. Fuck Hamilton, he has everything Burr doesn't have. He has everything he's ever wanted...and the worst part?

Aaron knows Alexander deserves it.

Until Washington announced the Scholarship opportunities. One person can get in, one person gets out of this school at sixteen, one person is free from a tormenting life. Aaron will go through hell for it, he'd do anything for it. It's the greatest competition one could ever ask for--the one opportunity he will take. No one else in school seems to want to leave to University early, which gives Burr the perfect chance of beating everyone like he always does. There's just--a small, tiny, really tiny problem--

"Sir!! I'd like to apply!"

Alexander FUCKING Hamilton you BASTARD.

Washington looked up from his papers at the two, a small lopsided smirk as he glanced at Aaron. Aaron would never be free--he just wants this scholarship so he can finally get out of here alive, so he can leave and Uncle Timothy won't hurt him anymore. Maybe he can go upstate and find his sister, he would do anything--anything at all to win. But now with Alexander? Aaron already felt like Hamilton would win--he's more smart than he is...more charming than he is...more friends than he has. More time to study, he doesn't have to work two jobs at once. More freedom, he can go to the library when he wants and doesn't have to sneak out and get beaten for it. Aaron is about to give up-

"Well then, I know you'll make me proud son."

Burr's heart always drops when he sees Washington smiling proudly at Alex. He looks at them with longing, with hope--that he's always wanted...something like that. To be loved...but he shoves it down. He pushes it down because he has to work. He has to win this. He won't let Hamilton feel so entitled.

"I'll see you in a few years when I get that scholarship, Burr." Alex sneered, laughing as Aaron looked down sadly and walked out of the room.

That asshole will see Aaron Burr on the scholarships awards.

~~~
Alexander walked over to his friends, laughing as he saw Aaron quickly walk out of the school building. Aaron damn Burr--he was the smartest person in this school, and Hamilton hates that because only ALEX is supposed to be the best! The fuck is his problem?
