A week slipped by in a flash, most of which consisted of packing necessities and other random objects that we probably would never use. I had phones up June to see if she could come along with us, which likely would have been possible if not for the fact that her parents had dragged her up to their summer house in Michigan. Though it did occur to me that I had never stayed there for longer then one night despite having been friends with her since since kindergarten. Typically it's us bringing her along with our shenanigans, not the other way around so it sort of makes sense.

But regardless of that little disappointment, we were on the road faster then I could forget a name. Actually, that's not true. If you go into the specifics, I forget names in under a minute, not a week. But my point still stands.

Ellis's crate was balanced on my lap. We couldn't really leave her at home due to her separation anxiety from Mom. She would begin screaming if in a different room from mom for too long. And while my blood flow was being cut off and I was losing feeling in my right foot, Ethan, the lucky bastard, got to sit in the front seat. Since he was giving directions to follow the compass, he got shot gun, while Dad sat in the backseat with me. And now I was all cramped.

I huffed as I glanced out the window, scenery flashing by, buildings, trees, cities, rivers. "Ethaaaaaan... how much longer?" I whined, flopping my head back.

"Er, that's what I'm trying to figure out. But from my calculations, the location is somewhere in Lake Huron?" Wiggling around in his seat, h turned to look at me with one of his hands protecting his face to stop me from booping him.

From the drivers seat, Mom began to raise her objections to driving into a large body of water. "We're not going to have to rent a boat and scuba gear are we? Because that's not happening!"

"How did you even calculate how close we are though? I don't think math can do that." turning my attention away from Mom and back to Ethan, I stared at him quizzically. Math can do some stuff, not enough to have to study it for like 7 years, but it could do some stuff, but it can't find the answer with literally no numbers, right? Right?! RIGHT?!

"Oh, uh, random guessing. I'm not even sure Lake Huron is in the direction we're going."

...

"Wooooooooooowwwwww... And I thought you were the smart one!" Still no clue where we're going? Bomb! Who needs plans and reasoning anyways?

"Well" Mom sighed, "at least we won't end up in a lake. Probably."

"Hopefully" Dad added.

"Well hey, we've been on the road for a few hours, and there's a farmers market nearby if you want to stop and stretch our legs, and maybe get a snack?" Mom asked from the drivers seat.

"Food? Maybe there'll be honey sticks and dark chocolate!" As of now, my mind is consumed by want for chocolate.
