38. beach day

A/N
This chapter lowkey feels like a dream you can't quite catch.
It also turned out to be more of a filler than I was hoping for, but I wanted to update somehow. And it does help with Stevens character arc so thats something i guess.

Stevens pov:

As Duff and I go upstairs, we pass Marie in the hall.

"Goodnight boys." She says as she makes her way to her room.

Duff and I get undressed and ready for bed.

I start scrolling on my phone for a bit, as Duff lays his head down on my chest.

I kiss the crown of his head as I see his eyes close.

"Night baby." I tell him.

He hums in response.

After half an hour of scrolling, I plug my phone in and put my arm around Duff.

He already fell asleep.

My mind takes me back to my nightmare last night.

It was horrible. Those guys were stabbing me with knifes, it felt so real. I swear I felt a tingly sensation on the places they stabbed me when I woke up.

I never wanna be like that again.
Duff looked so concerned. I don't ever want him to worry about me like that again.

'So I'll just not sleep?!' I think to myself.

Great, now even I have turned against me.

I'll just scroll until I can't keep my eyes open.

5 am.
Last time I looked at the clock it was 5 am.

As I open my eyes again I see it's almost 8.

Fuck, why did the thought of me taking a long nap scare me?

What the fuck is wrong with me?!

I decide to text Johnathan.

Steven: hey man
This is Steven from last night

I go back to instagram.

Ten minutes of looking at memes I've already seen go by.

I'm bored.

I slowly get my arm out of Duff's grip.

I get up.

After I got dressed I go downstairs.

Marie is drinking coffee.

"Morning." I greet her.

"Morning sweetie." She says, not looking up from her paper.

"Duff is still asleep. I'm going for a run after breakfast." I tell her.

We have some small talk while I'm eating breakfast.

After I stretched for a bit I start jogging.

I make my way down to the gym.

I used to have a membership here a few years ago.

After half an hour I have a membership.

I just start with some weights.

I'm glad I build up muscles fairly quick.

Johnathan: hey dude.
Im just gonna need some info and ill get back to you.

I decide to take a break and text him everything he wanted to know.

I move on to the shoulder press thingy.

It's almost 10 when I go take a quick shower.

Duff: wer r u?🥺

I chuckle.
Steven: the gym. U want me to come back?

Duff: when do u wanna come home?

Steven: do u want me to come back?

Duff: lowkey- yeh
I miss u🥺

I laugh and make my way back.

Steven: im omw

I put my phone back in my pocket.

I see Duff sitting on the couch as I get back.

I put my coat on the hanger and jump next to him on the couch.

"I missed you." He says and hugs me.

"I wasn't gone that long." I reply and chuckle.

Shadow starts barking, I pick him up and put him next to him, scratching his neck.

"Still." Duff says and burries his face in my arm.

I kiss the crown of his head and look at the tv.

Marie walks in the room.

"Ooh we should go to the beach!" Duff says enthusiastic.

"The beach? It's cold out." Marie says. I laugh.

"At least the sun is out." Duff replies.

"We could take Shadow with us." I suggest.

Duff gets a big grin on his face.

"C'mon let's get ready then." I say
We get up.
I change clothes and go downstairs.

While Duff is getting ready I get some food from the pantry.

I put them in my back pack.

We take Shadow and go to the car.

Duff starts humming to a song as we ride down the highway.

It's decent out. Not too cold, but not warm either.

As we put a blanket down on the sand, I get some treats for Shadow.

There aren't many people here. Just some runners or windsurfers.

"I've been looking at colleges." Duff says as I open a can of soda.

"I found one, not too far from here. We could live in dorms." He says and puts his hand on mine.

"That sounds great." I respond.

We both want to study the same thing. Sound engineering.

We talk about what we think college is like.

After we've had lunch, we just keep chilling on the blanket.

I see him looking at the waves.

With my hand I push his cheek, facing me. I rest my hand on his jaw and lean in.

As he kisses me back, I softly push my tongue against his lips.

We sit here, making out for a bit.

I get hit with his deep glare as our lips part.

His pleading eyes, basically asking me for more, I just give in to them.

His hand cupping my face as my tongue dominates his mouth.

He places his hand on my chest as I hear him moan in between kisses.

I make our lips part again.

Shadow is jumping around us.

"I think someone wants us to go." I say and smile at him, our foreheads touching.

"Hmm okay." He says and we get up.

I put our stuff in the bag as I see Duff jumping around Shadow hyping him up even more.

I chuckle at the site and get up.

We walk along the waves. Shadow is running trough the small waves.

I take Duff's hand in mine as we continue walking.

His cheeks started turning pink, either from the cold wind or from me holding his hand.
