“Not in the middle of Nando’s, no,” I groan.
“Okay, I’ll give you that one… Would you maybe want discuss it over tea at my flat later?” Liam offers instead.
I squeeze my eyes shut and breathe slowly for moment before opening my eyes again. So, he really wants to talk to me again. I think about it for another moment before conceding to his request: “Sure, we’ll go have some tea and we can discuss things.”
I start to turn away again, but Liam stops me. I shoot him a quizzical look, but he doesn’t seem to notice. Instead, he pulls me closer to him and kisses me for the first time in weeks. My hands instinctively bury themselves in his hair as he wraps his arms around me and holds me close. All too soon, though, Liam pulls back and smirks at me.
“We’re in public,” he whispers for my ears alone, marvelling over the fact that we’ve never risked any sort of PDA. Well, we’ve hugged in public before, and maybe even held hands, but never anything overly obvious.
I’m about to respond when I hear the sound of someone clearing his or her throat. I tilt my head a bit and stand on tiptoes to see past Liam’s shoulder. Other Ha-Mikayla.
“Erm, hi,” Liam mutters, scratching the back of his neck.
The girl with the dark, curly hair just blinks and heads back towards the table. Liam drops his arm from where it had been resting around my waist and hurries after the girl, tapping her on the shoulders. I watch as he leans in and whispers something to her, which I’m guessing means that he’s asking her not to go blabbing about whatever she might have just seen.
I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding when I see her nod and pull two fingers across her mouth to symbolize that her lips are sealed. She smiles at me from where she’s standing with Liam and I give her a thumbs up, mouthing the words, “Thank you.”

*Louis’ POV*
I look over at the empty seats at the end of the table before scanning the restaurant again. Niall and Liam had both disappeared more than a few minutes ago, so I was starting to worry about the fact that they hadn’t returned. I was shocked when Niall got up to use the loo because I had just caught sight of our waitress bringing our food out, but was even more surprised when Liam followed him moments later. What if they were having a row in the men’s room?
Seeming to notice how tense I am, Harry grabs my hand under the table and squeezes it gently. “I’m sure they’re fine, Lou,” he coos in my ear, leaning in so that I’m the only one who can hear him.
“What makes you so sure?” I ask, truly curious to know how my boyfriend could possibly believe that Niall and Liam wouldn’t do anything irrational.
“Did you see them when Niall first got here? They were actually talking to each other and enjoying themselves,” Harry points out.
I ponder it for a moment before remembering something. “That may be true, Haz, but they also started arguing when they thought no one else would notice,” I remind the younger boy.
“True, but then they made up after Niall fell out of his chair,” he retorts. “And you can’t deny that things seemed better between them when they were hugging.”
“Oh,” I mumble, having forgotten about that little detail. “I wasn’t really paying attention at that point,” I say.
“Oh please! You and I both know that you’ve been keeping an eye on them constantly since they got here.”
