I am sick of seeing tall, muscular, deep voice, arrogant asshole as the only character traits of the guy. Please do give him some real personality. Him being hot and overprotective should not be the only selling point. I admit I am a simp for possessive characters in fantasy. I like to feel cared for. But this trope is overdone in fiction to the extent it becomes toxic.
There will be that one character in a book whose sole purpose in the book is to make the male MC jealous. I am done with characters who have no emotional scale or spectrum. I am done with characters flipping out for no reason and acting like a child throwing tantrums. Two opposing alphas always having a pissing contest. There are MCs who don't respect the opposite gender unless it's someone related to them. Slut Shaming and name calling women for their sexuality? Absolutely Barbaric.
Normalise Men having emotions. They can cry too, they feel vulnerable too. They are human beings, they feel! They can feel remorse after killing someone. Can we please let go of the narrow definitions of manly men? Toxic Masculinity helps no one. Short Men are manly, lean men are manly, emotional men are manly, guys with higher tone of voice are manly, any and every man is manly.
